Speaking of Tarantino...

Hahaha.. :cooltongue:

  :D

"The moviemaker also thinks he was a black slave in America and a Japanese gentleman in former lives."

And now he gets to add "American idiot with big head (literally and metaphorically)" to his checklist.

I liked the comments posted by readers at the bottom. One of them SHOULD have read, "I was Kit Marlowe in my former life and you, sir, are no William Shakespere." Cuz you know? That's true, I was Kit Marlowe and I know who is Willie now. Scratch QT off that list, my friends.

I'm looking forward to DEATH PROOF.

Agreed. Quentin makes great Quentin Tarantino movies. But, just as he shouldn't be making Disney films, neither should he be making Bond films.

I caught him on Leno tonig...uhm....last night. He's gonna wreck alot of Mopars in Death Proof/Grindhouse. :cooltongue:

"They told him, 'We're afraid Quentin's going to make it too good and :cooltongue: the rest of the series.'"

What an ego!

Mind you, I don't really know his side of the story too well.

While I've liked some of Tarantino's work in the past, no way is he in any fashion suitable to work on a Bond movie.

Likewise, I don't think that Spielberg or any of the other "Big Names" rumored to want Bond work are suitable for the job.

I disagree. Go back and watch his movies again. In a Tarantino movie, Bond would be a cartoon at best. Plus, check out his attitude toward women. The dude has some serious issues. Seems like in Tarantino's world, women either get the crap beat out of them, killed in gruesome ways (or both), or are hookers. I'm guessing he never had a date in high school, and never got over it.

As for the "big" name directors, I'd say Spielberg could pull it off, as long as Babs made sure he didn't go too far overboard.

He's at it again:
Translated from an interview on 'Death Proof' with German Sunday paper "Welt am Sonntag" from last Sunday:

[...]

Q: We wanted to talk about the latest Bond movie with you.

A: I didn't see it.

Q: But you had been planning for years to do 'Casino Royale' yourself...

A: That is precisely the reason why I didn't see it. Because this is still an open wound to me, I still feel tricked. After 'Pulp Fiction', I tried to buy the rights to CR, who were held by Ian Fleming's heirs. But along came the Broccolis and grabbed the rights to everything that Fleming had ever written. They didn't even want to meet with me, about which I'm still p***ed to this day. And what's worse: they didn't even thank me after their movie became a success.

Q: Why should they feel the need to thank you?

A: The Broccolis had stated publicly that CR couldn't be filmed. Then, I talked to the press about my plans, to get things going and maybe arrange a meeting. Then you could suddenly read all over the internet. "That is the Bond movie all Bond fans long for." That means, I created a request that didn't exist before. At least, their director should have called me.

Q: So it looks like now we'll have to talk about 'Death Proof', instead...

[...]

Before people start questioning wether or not QT really said this, "Welt am Sontag" is not a tabloid rug that needs to make up stories like that. The headline of the interview is "My brain is like a big sponge". In this point, I tend to agree with him. (For the record, I used to be fond of the idea of QT doing CR).

I don't understand why he's so pissed about it anyway, if i were the Broccoli's i would get the rights too, maybe because i feel protective over the franchise and i wouldn't risk Bond getting another dumb [censored] unofficial movie like NSNA . I think Tarantino should just get over it, i understand that Eon got the rights to CR in 1999, right? So why is he still pissed off with them nearly 10 years later. :cooltongue:

I still feel tricked

Yes, it is really underhand of the Broccolis to film an Ian Fleming novel. Their intentions to do so have been snidely hidden, having only filmed the rest of the novels in the past. How shameful of them to digress from their previous method of secretly making films out of Fleming's work :cooltongue:
Tricked? What is he on about? The Broccolis make Bond films, that's what they do. Having mined Fleming for the previous 20 films, can it really be such a surprise that they'd do the same for number 21?

The Only thing i think is weired is that why Casino Royale wasn't filmed for the 40th Anniversary, i mean its was the perfect opportunity - 40th Anniversary, 20th Movie, see how James became Bond and all that [censored]. It was Perfect, it would be ideal. :cooltongue:

Might be a reason why he didn't hear the phone ring :cooltongue:

Seriously, what did he think? Did he really think that IFP would make the same mistake again by giving the CR rights in different hands than the rest of the package? Has led to nothig but trouble in the past, including what is considered a train wreck of a movie (which I happen to like a lot ). Did he really think that the Broccolis would pass the opportunity to finally get their hands on the whole package. All QT (probably) did was drive up the price, so Eon hasn't got exactly a lot of reason to thank him (instead, IFP has).

Yes. And I have been meaning to get a film called The Hildebrand Rarity made since I first read the Ian Fleming short story as a teenager a couple of decades ago. And Eon don't want to meet me.

Life is tough. I wanna cry. In fact i'm lying on the carpet with tears of rejection rolling down my cheeks as I pound the floor with my fists.

Dear Quentin,
I really respect your work and feel sorry that you have never been able to top Pulp Fiction. However, I do not want to return to a cartoon style Bond with your trade mark overblown action sequences and rivers of blood. Please leave Bond to the experts.

After 'Pulp Fiction', I tried to buy the rights to CR, who were held by Ian Fleming's heirs. But along came the Broccolis and grabbed the rights to everything that Fleming had ever written.

Ah, yes, the Broccoli family suddenly entered the Bond movie world in 1995. Someone should inform Quentin that Bond movies were made by the Broccolis before 1995. In fact, as far back as 1962 if memory serves.

They didn't even want to meet with me, about which I'm still p***ed to this day. And what's worse: they didn't even thank me after their movie became a success.

It's probably because you offered the idea of a CR movie with Brosnan as a period piece, which is not what they did with CR 2006, which was a current, 2006 dated modern movie with an actor named Daniel Craig. Sounds way different to me. Thought the idea of a parkour chase in 1952 might be interesting. Was this your idea too ?

A: The Broccolis had stated publicly that CR couldn't be filmed. Then, I talked to the press about my plans, to get things going and maybe arrange a meeting. Then you could suddenly read all over the internet. "That is the Bond movie all Bond fans long for." That means, I created a request that didn't exist before. Hmm, it took them until 2004/2005 to decide that Bond 21 would be CR, you first spoke of this back in 1996/1997 ?. I don't call that sudden. No really, You're just soemone who bullies his way into the movie world with his mouth, yapping and yapping and yapping like "your" characters do, and after ripping off your past friends ideas and scripts, (not mentioning other authors), and taking your oscar without thanking the guy who wrote the best part of Pulp Fiction (that's Roger Avary in case you forgot he was standing just behind you), you now have decided on a cloud, that you were the creator of Fleming novels adaptations on the movie screen. I say it's time for a trip to Betty Ford.

You're welcome to answer if you ever read this forum. (Which I suspect you do).

I have to say as someone who is a big fan of QT, who has heard his comments on film, both specific and general, and found them informative and entertaining, that I am deeply disappointed by his remarks in this interview.

I figured QT for a lot of things but being a sore loser isn't one of them. Linda Obst in her book on being a Hollywood producer said this happens all time. Just say okay they won today. I've got tomorrow.

Quentin, if you are reading this, you're better than this, my brother. Knock it the :cooltongue: off. As David Lynch would say, "Let's have some fun." And make some more great movies.

A lot of Tarantinos arguments about the Broccolis and Casino Royale in the German newspaper "Welt am Sonntag" were just laughable.
That statemant is not very professional for a man who works so long in the Hollywood business.Tarantino doesn't own the rights to the Bond legacy and he shouldn't talk angry about people he never met in his life.

Totally agree, QT is so full of himself, and he is all about self promotion and ripping of old movies. He seemed great when he started but now he's just one huge ego and, for me at least, his latest films are garbage. I think he would have utterly ruined CR if he'd got his grubby fingers on it.

He's still in shock after hearing smashing, witty dialogue that did the job magnificently without being smeared over with ka-ka.
