[Tuxedo wearing Bond]

This is a rather random question, but has it rained in a Bond movie? I don't remember it ever raining. But if this is so, it is somewhat interesting I suppose. This also raises the question about whether or not it'll rain in Casino Royale, due to it being very different from other bond films. Either way, I do know that it rains in the novels and the games.

Yes it was raining. There are some drops on the back windshield as Bond gets out.

Good observation. Yes, you have to backlight "rain." Actors hate it, because you can't heat the water before spraying it from "rain trees," and it's damned cold...but it sure adds another dimension visually, especially in night scenes (very difficult to do on chase scenes, so they usually just spray down the roads and sometimes add it in post).

In another thread about scenes you'd like to see in a Bond film, I brought this up as a climatic plot device. The adventure thriller "Hard Rain" used this very effectively (not a great movie, but the deluge added alot of tension to the film). If Bond had to contend with a heavy storm as well as a henchman trying to kill him, it could be damned exciting.

Yup. OHMSS seems to contain the most inclement weather of any Bond movie, rain or snow!

Your memory serves you well, ACE. For further proof one only needs to see the wiper blades of Draco's Rolls Royce.

It is also raining in The Spy Who Loved Me. The scene where Anya confronts Bond about the killing of Sergie was filmed on the 'wet weather' set. Whenever the sky turned dark and it started to rain, the crew moved indoors (this was an interior location, not a studio set) and the scene was filmed over several days. If you watch the background behind Barbara Bach you will see the sea grey one moment then bright blue the next!

It looked a bit moody in Bilbao in TWINE. And 'Cuba' was a littl eovercast; that's about the best I can think of.

As I said in my post above it was raining when they filmed the Cuba scene at the clinic. It just doesn't show on the film.

I actually find it amazing that Bond has never had a climactic fight with the villain during a storm, with lightning, and both protagonists drenched....

That's a fair point. If it does ever rain in a Bond film, then I would prefer it to be a full-on tropical thunderstorm, rather than just the boring drizzle we usually get here. The latter's just too ordinary for a Bond film. With a proper downpour, it could be a backdrop to either Bond and the villain duffing each other up, or to a romantic scene where Bond and the leading lady take shelter in the jungle...and decide to pass the time!

And that is what it appears to be from the trailer for CASINO ROYALE - a tropical downpour in an African rebel camp. Another reboot aspect of Bond - this is a Bond who faces adverse weather conditions also Although...
