How many similaritys can you spot between Goldeneye and Casino Royale?

here is a few...

  • Bond only beds one girl
  • Actors First movie
  • First Bond movies directed by Campbell over a period of time (LTK - GE (6 years) DAD - CR (4 years))
  • Bond dosent use any deadly gadgets on his car.
  • Bond only introduces himself as Bond... James Bond once in the movie
  • Bond loses something very precious (GE - his friend, CR - Vesper and almost his genitalia. B)

Don't think someone's mentioned this yet. In both films, the villain has a female ally(Xenia in GE, Valenka in CR) who is seen in the casino and who ends up dead before the final battle sequence.

GE's Bond follows Natalya into a casino.

I think he follows Xenia into a casino.

Both are one of the best, if not the best, Bonds ever!

Both have climaxes in which a minor villain wearing glasses ironically dies (Boris in GE, Gettler in CR).

Both films feature exchanges in which Bond is questioned by the leading female character on his attitude to killing.

Natalya and Bond's "Trevelyan was your friend and now you have to kill him, How can you be like that? How can you be so cold/ It's what keeps me alive etc"

Vesper and Bond's "It doesn't bother you, those men you killed?/ Well I wouldn;t be very good at my job if it did" etc

Of course there's one significant difference between the two films: CR is actually good. B)

Too true.

GOLDENEYE is all over the shop in terms of its direction.

The PTS scenes in each film take place at a time before present day. To underscore this in GE, a nine-years-later caption is placed after the main title sequence. In CR, a computer screen typeface appears in the title sequence itself, which says James Bond 007: Licence Confirmed. Along with the CR PTS dialog, this suggests Bond's pre-00 career in MI6.
