Great news for the Bond camp. Some serious award attention and will definitely take home some hardware.

I really hope DC gets best actor.
Would definitely be pretty damn cool!

Hopefully the Academy takes notice and realize that CR deserves some Oscar attention.

Whilst this is truly remarkable for a Bond film and frankly amazing for a twenty-first film in a franchise (will American Pie 21: "Come" of Age garner such nominations?), and I do this with a slight wince on my face but - is Casino Royale really a British film? Isn't it a US/UK/Czech/German co-production? Whilst I accept that many, many ostensibly British films must have US funding in them somewhere, this one does seem a bit more of a United Nations production.
Still, this is hardly something to complain about. What a tremendous achievement.

On another note the coverage the 9 nominations is now getting in the British press is quite big, which would prompt me to think that the UK Boxoffice might even get a further boost, from all this positive buzz!

Well, DCINB is still soldiering on. Its front page is now trumpeting NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM's Stateside haul ("Night at the Museum has made $164,097,000 17 days!" it exclaims breathlessly) as further proof of, presumably, the total pisspoorness of the failure that is CASINO ROYALE, and the utter majesty of the box office giant who goes by the name of Pierce Brosnan.

Yeah. They don't mention that, for instance, TITANIC opened on the same day as TOMORROW NEVER DIES and ended up making just a tiny bit more.

So they're glad NatM did better than Brosnan's?

"Daniel Craig has had the last laugh, being nominated for a record number, for a Bond film, number of Baftas, as well as being the first Bond to be nominated for Best Actor for the role. Way to go Daniel, you showed them!" "Who were they anyway?" "Oh just some over zealous um, Bond fans, if you can call them that, just like the Superman fans who hated the suit"

Well now in light of Bond's snubbing at the Oscars, the BAFTAS better make up for it.
In my opinion, Craig has the best chance in the Best Actor category. Whilst Forest Whitaker is very good in THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND, he is surpassed by the supporting James McAvoy (who also has more screen time). Awards are indeed odd and silly excuses for everyone to get together, pat their backs, air kiss and forget all about it the next morning. A bit like hiring a cheap prostitute....

Forest Whitaker - plays Ugandan villain Idi Amin; Casino Royale featured Uganda as a location, with a Ugandan villain, Obanno.
