Another Bond title with "die" in it, eh?

Yes. How original. When in doubt go with Die or Kill.

Since it was the 3rd book i'm surprised they didnt go with TripleKill instead of Win Lose Or Die...or was it DoubleShot...oops, I meant Double Or Die.

O well, you never die twice.

Well it's not like we can complain. Chosen by the readers. I don't hate it. NEMESIS was terrible though, so I think we were lucky on that one.

Well, the titles ok, but i preferred 'The Deadlock Cipher' which sounded more mysterious. 'Double or Die' sounds like a Gardener title. :cooltongue:. Not to keen on the cover art either, a bit plain imo compared to Silverfin and Bloodfever.

Really like the title - really hate the cover art. That colour red isn't even bright and vibrant. It looks like ketchup.

Okay, here we go. A full gallery of pics and a terrific video of Charlie announcing the title.

Up close, the Scull and Crossbones seem to be x-rays, interesting.

Yeah, as I thought, it looks better in the flesh (you can tell that in the video).

I really liked "Deadlock Cipher", but if it's what Charlie wants, then I'm all for it.

Cheers!

If you live in Merry ol' England. Technically it's out today if you can get a copy from Waterstone's.

I was always pretty sure Double or Die would be the new title. It's one that kids would like. Most of the voters would have been under 14. I don't really like it. It's too cliched and unoriginal. It sounds like so many other Bond titles. The Deadlock Cypher is far superior and a great title I think. Atleast now they have the option to use this title for one of the adult Bond books if they end up having the new author writing several of them which I certainly hope they do. Damn, I can't wait for May 2008.

Not to impressed with the cover art either. Well, I like the skull and crossbones X-ray but the rest of the cover is plain. The covers for all of his books are pretty plain and boring. Still, what's important is the actual story. These books still sell very well despite the cover art.

I'm sure Double or Die will be a good book. I enjoyed both of Higson's Young Bond books. Silverfin is my favourite so far.

Apparently there were loads of Young Bond goodies given out at the event. I've got a nice Young Bond care package coming to me for my buddy Neal who took all those pics and video. Also, looks like Charlie is dating the books 3/1/007. Cool. :cooltongue:

I have to pop into Waterstones before I go back to London, it'll be a good read on the drive up (obviously with someone else driving :cooltongue:)

It's funny that the cover proudly states this is "the explosive new Young Bond bestseller" - before it's even been on sale! I think that's called counting your chickens before they've hatched.

Judging by the performance of the past two books though, it seems pretty likely Double or Die will do similar business.

Blood Fever said the same thing. Well.. except Blood Fever was "the deadly new Young Bond bestseller" while this one is "the explosive new Young Bond bestseller."

Advance orders?
Not keen on the title - 'Die'. Again. Really? Also, it is Gardner-ish, as someone else pointed out. Plus, for some reason I cannot explain, I would have liked a one word title - not that I could come up with a good one, I just would have liked it is all.
On the other hand, I'll be in the minority who like the cover. The x-ray effect is, well, effective. For me, anyway.

Double or Die, isn't that Kamal Khan's gaming motto? :cooltongue:

Not crazy about the art, but it does look better in the video. Funny, I'd always imagined Mr. Higson with a deeper voice.

Watching the title reveal on youngbond.com - Higson is the right man to be writing the series. The photos of him made him appear older, but he is by far not. He is very likable and good with the humour.

"the incendiary new Young Bond best seller"
I prefer the definition where it "contains chemicals that cause fire."

Is this tongue in cheek, or weren't you excited by the Casino Royale release (very hard to tell on the net)

No. I am being completely serious.
I always maintained that Young Bond 3 was a more exciting release for me than the EON release.
In my opinion Double or Die is the most exciting James Bond release since Blood Fever.

Hmm.. I love theve books but the first 3 chapters of DoD have really irritated me. The whole 'cryptic clues' thing seems ridiculous - Bond and Pritpal's "solving" of the first couple was embarrassingly smooth.
