Excellent!

Cant wait for the title. Hope its "The Deadlock Cipher" but will be happy for a title regardless.

We get a glimpse of the cover also?

A good title indeed - has a good ring to it (pardon the pun)

Cant wait to see what cover they settled on. I predict it will have white font for the "Double Or" part, and red for "Die". The other font had red included somewhere.

Will the apache be on the cover?! Exciting news this is.

I'm very happy with this title. It was the most Bondian.

Aparently, the cover art is red with a skull and crossbones on it. I haven't seen it yet.

Later today I will have loads of pics and some video. But now...I'm going to bed.

I agree zencat.I think The Deadlock Cipher was the most integral to the plot we have learnt of so far, but Double or Die was the most Bondian title of the three.

Sounds great! Can't wait too see it! I would like to see it more like the Fleming-style covers by Richard Chopping (or what his name was!?)

I'm a bit surprised with the title - pretty certain it would be "Deadlock cipher"

The cover art sounds interesting - and very good. I take it the font will be the same, located near the bottom with the cross hairs.

Well it was not my favorite title among the three, but at least it wasn't the cringe inducing N.E.M.E.S.I.S.

It does sound the most Bondian title.

I remember from a while back somebody said the cover would have skull and cross bones. I wonder if the dice remained?

Sounds too much like a Gardner title to me, but it's still better than NEMESIS.

I wonder if YB4 will have a 4 word title.....

I'm dissapointed with the cover art...really! Looks like a bad fan art. No, i'll certainly hope the inside is better than the outside. :cooltongue:

I assume so. The PR person just sent it to me. I haven't seen the actual book yet. Maybe it looks better in the flesh. Maybe that skull is raised or metalic or something.

Well, SilverFin looks different in the flesh, but not that different. :cooltongue:

I think it's just a lot of red - no background, really. Wish they would have used something other than "Bond is Back" too. That's usually a film thing.

In light of the covers of both SilverFin and Blood Fever, I imagine that will be the case here. I'm planning on popping out tonight after work and picking up a copy (hopefully a Limited Edition one).

For any other fellow Londoners, Blackwell on Charing Cross are stocking signed copies of the first two Young Bond books. They're not stickered as such, so you'll have to check them out before you buy, but they had quite a few when I was there.

The cover art is... different. I certainly wasnt expecting it like this. It would look better in person for sure, just like the Silverfin cover.

Zencat,

You've been championing this young Bond series, and now have my curiosity up. The series sounds good, though I have been pooh-poohing the concept for a while due to things like young Indiana Jones.

End result, these will be on my 2007 reading list :cooltongue:

Cheers,

Glad to hear that Four Aces. I wasn't keen on the concept either and I wasn't even completely sold on SilverFin...although it was clear Higson was a very good writer. Blood Fever is what made me a true convert. It's a BOND book, just as I expect Young Bond 3...er, Double or Die (allow me to be the first to call it DOD) will be.

Okay, now I really am going to bed.

What's all this "Limited Edition" stuff: I recall on the IFP/Young Bond website at competition time there was mention of such.

Anyone shed any light? Dark, Zen...?

Ah, so THAT'S what a Limited Edition is... (Never had much appeal to me something I can't use - can't open aand read without loosing its value).

Thanks anyway, Zen. And sleep well.

Not crazy about that cover art. It looks, well....cheap.

But as they say "don't judge a book by it's cover" -- I am sure the novel will be just as excellent as Blood Fever.

Even though my favorite character of Vendetta will not be included.

The cover looks good and is very similar to the paperback cover of Icebreaker. Great homage.

I'm glad they didn't go with N.E.M.E.S.I.S.

Not too sure about the cover artwork yet, but I'll have to wait until the book is in my hands. Glad we finally have a title though! :cooltongue:
