But he does have potential. It still bugs me a bit that he's a blond bond.
But I do approve.

I think he's one of the best, but I'm not ready after seeing CR only two times to say he's the best ever. He's gonna need another film for that and a least a year to let Casino Royale settle in. So, I approve.
I agree. Time will tell if he is the best Bond ever, but he is very good in CR. I approve as well.

brand new to the board but a longtime Bond fan. Haven't missed a Bond premiere since Moonraker no matter where I've lived in the world.
To echo several comments on the board, I was rather disappointed in the choice of Craig when it was announced however after seeing Casino Royale I was pleasantly surprised, nay, make that extremely enthused with Mr. Craig's performance. He has, in my humble opinion, re-invigorated the franchise that after Die another day (the worst Bond movie in my opinion since License to kill) seemed to be heading to either extinction or catering to the young MTV crowd. The producers seemed to be forgetting about the scared veterans that have religiously followed the series over the years and made the series as succesful as it has been.
I think it's very much too early to state him as being the best Bond ever. I believe it takes another movie or 2 before that distinction can be made however, based on his initial foray into Bond I would say he's well on his way.
Regards,
Johan

CR was good, Craig was great, but he'll never be the best Bond in my opinon. That'll always be Connery.
Fair Enough, welcome to CBn .
I think Craig is an extremly talented actor, I'm really happy that he has been given the role of Bond. I've never seen an actor who cares as much as he does about it looking right. Quantum of Solace has no reason to fail when Craig is there, we want a dark Bond and he's gonna make sure we get one

Your lack of enthusiasm troubles me. Now say it like you mean it.

DC brings an even more robust Bond than I originally noticed. He’s nuanced, and he’s attentive to the character in every scene, every line, and every move.
I think that’s called ‘layers’. It’s nice to actually have them vs. just hearing about them.

Daniel Craig IS the best Bond ever!!!!!!!!!
And Sean Connery who brought Bond to life?
C´mon, get some perspective here.
Craig is great.
But there is no best Bond. Only your favorite Bond. And that can very well be Craig in your case.

But Daniel Craig, to me, is my ideal Bond. Besides, I've always fancied blonde/pale-eyed men. And Danny Boy has the right balance of cockiness and intensity.

Craig is a fantastic James Bond, and I certainly approve, but no one will ever top Sean Connery.
I felt exactly the same way, until I revisited YOLT a few days ago. Sir Sean couldn't have been more disinterested, as if he were doing a bad Robert Mitchum imitation.
Sean Connery will be #1, for a variety of reasons, unless/until Daniel Craig does two or three more films in the same fashion as he was in CR.
YOLT Connery was already planning his retirement for the part. George Lazenby was in the next feature OHMSS. They must've given him a -load of money to reprise the part in DAF. And then he looked puffy, out of shape, and had some dumb bubba sheriff in the movie as well as Jimmy Dean. About the only thing that stood out in the movie was Jill St John in a bikini, and two gay hit-men (in the book at any rate.)

Actually I have differing reasons for liking all of the Bond actors. Connery for practically inventing how to play the role, Lazenby because he was in OHMSS, Dalton because he was the first Bond I ever saw and Pierce simply because the first two he did were great.
But as someone who has started to read Flemming's novels, I can only imagine Daniel Craig when I read them, he fits the role better than anybody else.
