How about the Alps? They could bring in some skiing which is always cool in a Bond movie.
The Alps are always a great location but i don't know about skiing. How about mountain climbing instead? When did we last see mountain climbing in a Bond film?

I think 1987 in The Pre Titles of The Living Daylights if that doesn't count then i thiml in 1981 in For Your Eyes Only. If i'm missing something more recent i can't think of it.

On the other hand, climbing can be pretty cool.
I just saw an article somewhere on future mil tech. There is a kind of glider, shaped like a bullet, that paratroops slip over their gear. It allows them to glide up to 40 miles before they have to deploy the chute. That might be cool. For location? Have him do it in the mountains, soaring among the peaks.

I'd like to see New York City used as well. It was such a big part of Fleming's novels, and when he used it he almost made it a character itself.

Speaking as a Canadian, I'd love to see Canada used in a Bond film. There are a lot of opportunities here - and we have mountains, too!!

Maybe he can watch helplessly as a fellow 00 plummets to earth, reminding him of his parents' deaths?

Seriously though, you're right, it is the right time for a mountain climbing scene as he is in the right shape, but I think the parent thang would be a little o-t-t. As fans, we know his history.

"And, James, while your parents were killed in a climbing accident, mine had the indignity of both being sliced up in accidents involving runaway lawn mowers...."
