It'll upset a few fans. It's a tad different...
Only the fans who are upset that it's been moved off the start of the film. Or that the Bond theme doesnt pop up till the credits.

It looks even better in motion. Watch Pt. III of 'Becoming Bond' on YouTube and it will be at about the 6:35 mark. It's looking really good.I have been waiting for a new take on the gunbarrel, and I like the look of this new version though I'll like to see it in motion.

Precisely what I have been thinking. I personally like the new gunbarrel. It is a familiar element, just tweeked a little to update it. I hope they run with this one for at least DC's tenure as Bond.I like the new gunbarrel. It is familiar yet strikingly different. The overall tone of Casino Royale.

Agreed.I actually want that to be the new official gunbarrel now .

I sincerly hope though that for Bond 22 we have the dots before the gunbarrel with the Bond theme.I missed the dots for Casino Royale, but seeing as it was such a good movie I'll let it pass.Just remember a Bond film has to have the Bond theme & a gunbarrel,or you may as well have another 'Never Say,Never Again' brrrrrrrrrrr.
Please Barbara & Michael don't abandon the opening, its the stuff legends are made of.

Why? Why must every Bond film have the gunbarrel? Not knocking it, as I quite like it. But this notion that a Bond film must have certain things off of a check list is really starting to confound me.
And the fact that NSNA has no gunbarrel doesnt make it any less of a Bond film. Is it not a film about a secret agent named James Bond?

No, there is no rule set by God that says a Bond film must have a gunbarrel or the Bond theme or M or Q or a Bond girl or a villain or fantastic cars or Vodka Martinis shaken not stirred, etc, etc... But would you really want to see a Bond film that has none of that checked off your checklist? Without that stuff we get Ice Cube in XXX.Why? Why must every Bond film have the gunbarrel? That stuff is as important to the enjoyment of a Bond film as turkey and family and football is to Thanksgiving. Would you enjoy celebrating Thanksgiving as much with strangers in McDonalds watching a tennis match?
There are essential elements to a Bond film that have always been a part of the films...that's why they have been in the public consciousness for forty years. If this confounds you, then you have no sense of tradition. At Wimbledon they wear white, at the Indy 500 the winner drinks milk, at the theater the players take a curtain call, in Bond films there is a gunbarrel. No reason for any of this at all...just tradition. Odd that tradition and ceremony means little to you.

If we have to sacrifice tradition for quality, then I'm all for it.

So "tradition and ceremony" (literal translation: formula) are more important than story, character, and innovation?

Why the gun barrel in CR isn't a "proper" gun barrel?
Basically, too many grooves. The original style, used up until DAD was more authentic, the only barrel I've seen with as many grooves as the CR one was in an old cannon.
