It just has to be something new! Why would they debut the full trailer for their highest profile film this fall with "The Gridiron Gang"? They'll reach millions more with Nip/Tuck. Sony can't be that dumb can they?

Please. Most people will see it online at Apple.com, the CR website, YouTube, and AOL/Moviefone. Then just about every movie in the theaters up until release. It being attached to Gridiron Gang seems more like a ploy to get people to go see Gridiron Gang :) Guess what big trailer will be attached to Casino Royale. Damn right it'll help Bond's opening numbers too. I remember seeing Monsters Inc in theaters just so I could see a Star Wars teaser. Sad, given the fact that TPM sucked.. AOTC wasn't much better :P But Star Wars, you know? Woot? :P :) The trailer was released online the following day.

True, but it would be a missed oppertunity to show to a wide general audience. How many average people actually go out their way to view a trailer online? Sad to say it but the vast majority don't. This is a perfect chance to hit a mass audience with the trailer while if it doesn't appear it's not going to be the end of the world but I feel this is great chance to generate hype outside of just us "internet folk".

Wide audience? I think you over estimate basic cable. It's good perhaps great for cable, but it doesn't even compare with the majors. It probably doesn't do any better than an average show on the WB/UPN/CW - and those aren't all that great. An average episode of Smallville does better than probably Nip/Tuck's best.

Here's a little more on Sony's deal with FX for the Nip/Tuck premiere

http://publications....p;art_aid=47629

Apparently Nip Tuck's prime demographic is females aged 18-49, although it's really strong across all the 18-49 demos.

Last season's finale averaged 5.7 million viewers (with 3.9 million of them in the prime 18-49 demographic) and was the highest rated program in the history of the FX Network. The replay had 1.6 million viewers.

I think "Smallville" is averaging about 4 or 5 million viewers, so this show is pretty comparable to any series on the WB network, and most series on the Fox Network that aren't on the same night as "American Idol".

Bet it's just the teaser or a few clips we've already seen.

There's no way they'd debut the FULL THEATRICAL TRAILER on Tv.

Well I read an article not long ago about how Nip/Tuck was one of the best on cable and averages about 3.X for the year /week. That's usually what I look at. The season finale would be bigger - I don't know how Smallville did in that respect; wasn't the point and I shouldn't have made the comparison regardless.

But I don't believe it would be a wasted opportunity if Sony didn't show anything new tonight. I still kind of see it as too early. They could hit this right and whip up a couple TV spots and add them to shows starting up in late September early October. There are plenty of bigger shows starting up then.

Okay, they just showed the title sequence, no trailers yet.... probably will be about 5 minutes or so before trailer #1.

This is like a bad, watered down HBO show, although I can already tell Julian McMahon would have made a pretty decent bond.

Never watched it myself.

Am I right in saying that as the show's sponsered by Sony the trailers/previews play as the ad-breaks?

I'm leaving it 20 seconds between refreshes, thus escaping the "saddo" tag :)

Trailer #1!
Running with Scissors

"Stranger than Fiction" trailer is going to be shown during the next break.

Casino Royale will be "Trailer #3", if they go in order.

Nip/Tuck is back on now, so ETA to Casino Royale trailer is probably about 20 minutes.

So this RUNNING WITH SCISSORS trailer - was it a full length cinematic trailer or more along the lines of a teaser? Hopefully this could lead to some indication of what to expect with CASINO ROYALE (either that or more speculation!)

Fans in the USA: watching Nip/Tuck, refreshing their browser occasionally, will get to see trailer, all at a reasonable hour.

Fans in the UK: not watching Nip/Tuck, won't even see the trailer, but are still refreshing their browsers, all at 330 in the morning.

There had better be a trailer, or us UK fans are going to feel pretty stupid lol.

It was modified version of the full-length cinematic trailer, with some stuff added (like saying it was from the "Creator of Nip/Tuck") and some stuff taken out. Ran about 2 minutes, maybe 2 minutes and some change.
