I wish they would have an option on DVD's with deleted scenes that would ad them into the film if desired.

It'll be interesting to re-read the novelisation now to see if any other stuff is still left out.
From memory, the hotel scene is in the novel. It follows the theft of the cash from the Wavecrest plane. In the deleted scene, you can see the bundles of csh on the bed. The new gun is explained as being needed because - according to the novelisation - Bond gave it back/lost it escaping from M.
The boat buying deleted scene is also in the book: it follows from the hotel scene and preceeds the return to Leiter and the trip to Bimini bar, if I remember correctly.
Not sure about the others for now.

Apart from the Hotel scene, the only other deleted scene I really liked was the scene of Bond and Lupe arriving on the shore after she escaped to go shopping. He asks her "Do you love him" she answers "No I hate him". Quite a simple scene but nice cinematography.
There was another amusing scene of Bond and Sharkey spying on Krests ship from afar, Glen said it was cut because of the silly looking hat Dalton is wearing, and I have to agree. It didn't quite work.
Anyway, apart from the deleted scenes I'm glad I bought the DVD as the PQ is much much better than the old DVD.

I have heard it repeated many times on this site that the angry look of Dalton's is Flemingian. An honest and serious inquiry: I cannot remember Fleming describing Bond as being 'pissed off' (or the English idiomatic equivalent circa the 1950s and 1960s), so why does a 'pissed off' look = Fleming's Bond?
I think it stems from Bond's last line in the novel of CASINO ROYALE. The fact that that had never been filmed and that the films became increasingly light-hearted exaggerated it, because those who had read Fleming were more likely to say: '"The bitch is dead" - *that's* Fleming's Bond.' CR the novel - the last to be filmed, of course - repeatedly describes Bond's features as brutal. Bond also spends much of the novel in his hotel room, wearing evening dress, smoking and drinking. As a result, this shot of Dalton almost looks like it could be from a period adaptation of CASINO ROYALE.

I find the fact you apparantly can't, extremely disappointing. You would have thought with this being an "ultimate edition", such an option would have been available. I've seen a lot of other films on DVD that have had no trouble splicing in lost scenes - Lethal Weapon, Alien, The Good the bad and the ugly, none of which even had the ultimate tag.

What is a UE? Are these like DVD's that can play on American players? Apparently there's a difference. I have a copy of Anthony Hopkins in the movie Spottiswoode, and can't watch it due to these differences.
The UE is an abbreviation for "Ultimate Edition" - it's a marketing term attached to the newest crop of DVDs - it isn't a different format.

Just watched the deleted scenes on the Ultimate Edition DVD of Licence to Kill and I have to say some of the footage there is fantastic. Even though most of it didn't add a lot to the story, some of the material reinforces the impression of Dalton being Fleming's Bond. The scene of him in his hotel room is superb even if it offers little importance.
Would anyone have kept any of these scenes in?
I totally agree with you. A lot those scenes made you relate more with Bond. I say keep them in!

Also, while I'm a fan of the Dalton-Lowell scene in the casino (after Bond has met with Sanchez), is anyone else puzzled by the presence of all those scary looking extras in the background? You'd think with a budget of such a proportionate size they'd see it fit to hire some decent looking people...
And yes, the Lupe-Bond scene is great, moreso for the cinematography than Talisa Soto's attempt at acting (I've never heard someone utter the words "No I hate him" with such little conviction...).
On a more serious note, I love the scene of Sanchez brushing past Bond in the foyer of the Banco de Isthmus. Take a look at Dalton's icy stare. Class. In this and the hotel scene, Dalton oozes Fleming-style Bond. I think John Glen did a disservice to both Dalton and the Bond character in general by leaving these scenes on the cutting room floor.

What's with THAT hat that Dalton is wearing in the scene where he's spying on the WaveKrest with Sharkey? No wonder the scene got chopped...
John Glen even mentions that the hat Dalton is wearing in that scene had something to do with them cutting it from the film.

I'm kind of surprised it still has the PG-13 rating with those bits back in. Yikes!
I don't understand why it doesn't have the "Uncut" label on the front like GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies now do?
