Would anyone have kept any of these scenes in?

The hotel scene, though, is an absolute gem (the stuff Bond's watching on TV is pretty clever, too). Dalton is 110% Fleming's Bond here - a real shame that it was left on the cutting room floor.
(The TOMORROW NEVER DIES deleted scenes are rather pony and trap, though.)

I think most of those deleted LTK scenes should have been left in, as they expand on the supporting characters and in some cases fill in gaps on things that are slightly baffling in the finished film. In particular, Lupe's feelings for Sanchez are clarified, and it's nice to know more about Truman Lodge and Heller (even the Hong Kong narcotics agents seem more bad***).

Love that scene. He doesn't need to say a word, he just is Bond.
Looking forward to getting to grips with the UE of TLD (if I get lucky and receive it as a birthday present!

I have the special edition of all 20 movies so I don't exactly feel like blowing more money on the series for the UE DVDS. Kind of frustrating to not have these extra scenes at my disposal. My specials editions aren't exactly 'special any more.'
I was only 4 films away from completing my SE set and am being rather selective when it comes to these new DVDs....for now. If you like Timothy Dalton and Licence To Kill, then it probably is worth spending the money just to see the new material (theres about 8 scenes altogether). Not to mention the new behind the scenes material

And, of course, don't forget the massively improved image and sound on the UE, plus (if you're in the UK) the fact that the film is now "uncut". If you're a real fan of LTK, then the UE is most definitely worth the money. I've upgraded DVDs to deluxe editions before and received far less in return (THE BOURNE IDENTITY, THE LAST EMPEROR, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE) than with LTK, so in the words of Rocky Balboa I'd say: go for it.

You could always sell them and use the money as a down payment on the UEs. I'm sure you can get a chunk for the SEs still.

Might want to pick up one or two of your faves then (instead of them all)?
Welcome to CBn, by the way.

Did John Glen do intros to the deleted scenes and, if so, did he explain why that scene of Dalton in the hotel room was dropped? Or any of the others, for that matter?
Yes, Glen intros all the deleted scenes. From memory, he doesn't explain all that much about them (Roger Spottiswoode is far more animated and forthcoming, although his deleted scenes are rubbish), and his argument in every case seems to be "It didn't really advance the story, so I chopped it, case closed".

Seems a tall order, but can someone give a description of these scenes? I already have the entire series on DVD and am not really interested in buying it again.
For those who want to know, highlight to read:
Bond is in his hotel room and hears something about Sanchez on his TV. Sanchez is being interviewed denying he's involved in drugs. He sits down to watch with an angry look on his face and pours himself a drink from a flask. Then he removes the bottom of the flask to reveal the Walther PPK inside.
Sharkey is stopped by police getting into Leiter's house
Bond and Sharkey sail around the Wavekrest and are warned off by Krest telling them their a danger to his divers
After sneaking him out of Sanchez's house by speedboat, Lupe drops Bond on a beach (think Dr No). He asks her if she loves Sanchez and she replies that she hates him
Bond returns to Pam in the casino after meeting Sanchez socially for the first time
The Hong Kong narcotics group take Bond to their safe house
Bond and Pam arrive in Isthsmus airport and see the Oriental drug lords arriving by plane. Pam points out that Truman Lodge is a wall street broker and Heller an army Colonel both wanted for criminal activity in the US. That British agent who shows up later in the safe house is also watching Bond.
Bond enters the bank in Isthsmus to open his account and hears Sanchez voice. For a second he thinks Sanchez has recognised him but he is in fact just greeting the drug lords and pushes past Bond, without even acknowledging him. This seems to be the first time that Bond realises that his enemy dos'nt know who he is, which gives him the upper hand
I think thats all of them. Not all of them are good but the ones that are, are brilliant.

Those two sound like they would have made fantastic additions to the movie. Between the seeming improvement in quality and all these extras, I'm eagerly looking forward to picking up at least the LTK UE.For those who want to know, highlight to read:

Finances permitting, I'd also like TLD, OHMSS, and DN-TB. But maybe by that point I should just get the whole shebang...

Indeed. That's pretty much what I imagine Bond to look like when I read the novels. Too bad they didn't leave that scene in the film.

I have heard it repeated many times on this site that the angry look of Dalton's is Flemingian. An honest and serious inquiry: I cannot remember Fleming describing Bond as being 'pissed off' (or the English idiomatic equivalent circa the 1950s and 1960s), so why does a 'pissed off' look = Fleming's Bond?
BTW, just watched LTK last night (SE version), and am clamouring for the UE and the purported audio/visual enhancements + deleted scenes.

I'd say "moody" is a better description. Fleming's Bond could be quite moody and introspective. Same with Dalton.I have heard it repeated many times on this site that the angry look of Dalton's is Flemingian.
