I gave it a solid 8...

Great promise by Brosnan, not realized in the subsequent movies.

I gave it a 9. I would've given it a 10 had it not been for Serra's horrendous score.

I'm not sure quite what to give it. I suppose a 6.5? It's good, but not utterly mind blowing.

My personal favorite, but not perfect by any means. But then again is any film perfect? It does have it all. Good Bond, villain, scenery, etc... 10 for me.

I gave it a solid 6. A well-made action film, but not even close to the really good Bondfilms (FRWL, TB, OHMSS, TSWLM, FYEO).

I give it a 9. With the exception of one or two minor character and pacing problems, it's truly an excellent film.

I gave it an eight. It's a great film, but not the best.

I gave it a 3. It's not quite the worst Bond film, but it's down there.

I gave it a nine. I think its Brosnans Best performance, it had a great cast, plot, one liners, and it still had a bit of the Cold War setting. Plus I first saw it when I was in the first grade. My first Bond Movie

GoldenEye is my favourite. Grew up with it, had the game and seemed magic. Still does. Without GoldenEye's success I fear I would of not found Bond.

A definite 8: loses from Serra's totally downbeat, chose-wrong-movie-to-experiment-with score and lacks grandeur in its cinematography (gone are the Freddie Young wides)

I think "GoldenEye" is a solid 7 - with the casting and the screenplay elevating the movie well above the middle. Plotwise, it's the usual "orbiting killer satellite bit" (by DAD all those space weapons must be crashing into each other) but the sharp and snappy dialogue really spices up the leftovers. The villains are a hoot - especially Sean Bean, who never misses a chance to throw the 007 reputation back in Bond's face - and Bond's scenes with the new M recall the snappy sass of the Connery days.

I wouldn't call it a classic - damn if that Eric Serra score still sounds like someone is trying to thaw out frozen pipes - but "GoldenEye" is a really good, fun Bond movie that was certainly welcome after the six year drought that preceeded it.

I give GoldenEye a 9. Brosnan's best Bond film. Good plot, good villains, and beautiful girls. Serra's score is biggest problem--better as soundtrack than when used in movie.

I gave it a 6. I love everything until the fade out when the Tiger is stolen. The rest feels too alien to me.

10/10, magical and the best Bond that doesn't have the words Spy or License in the title.

I gave it a solid 6 because it had a good plot. On the other hand, the score was terrible and they relied too much on CGI when it was not advanced enough to produce more realistic. The CGI was good for its time but now...... :)

My own opinion, but I'll take the CGI in GoldenEye/Tomorrow Never Dies/The World is not Enough over whatever they were trying to achieve with Die Another Day.

Seven.

Good film. Brosnan's best...but doesn't quite reach the level of the classic Bonds.

Goldeneye is the Film that put my faith back into the Bond Franchise after the dire and truley Awful LTK.Goldeneye and Brosnan brought the Bond franchise to the heights of popularity not seen since Connery

A 3. Would have been a five if not for Serra's awful score. Sort of an average film, Brosnan would get much better. I prefer Dalton in the part, and that definitely affects my appreciation of the film.

And did I mention Serra's score? Awful.

I actually liked Serra's score, at least he was trying to do something interesting, Arnold's just been copying Barry.

To expand earlier on my "3" rating:

This film really sticks Bond in the background, he's rarely driving the action or advancing the plot. Most of the time it feels Bond is just along for the ride. This is not more apparent in the train escape. It's one thing to let the Bond girl figure out the plot (that's fine) but the way Campbell films this scene, it's almost like he forgot Brosnan is supposed to be the star.

Can't fault Campbell though, Brosnan has zero screen presence in this film (he would improve with TND though, my favorite Brosnan film). Probably stemming from a fact that he's a bit unsure of himself being the lead of the film (he has about as much presence in GoldenEye as he did in Mrs. Doubtfire.

A poor first attempt, but luckily Brosnan's second outing was much, much better.

i give "goldeneye" 9 out of 10. brosnan's performance was good, but i felt his portayal of bond was stronger as he acclimated himself to the role. i think his best bond performance was in "the world is not enough".

eric serra's score was not one of my favorites when i first heard it, but now years later, it's really grown on me and i've come to appreciate the way he made it different and excitingly unique.

i've been watching the opening credits sequence on youtube with the original ace of base song. very good. does anyone have any idea where to find that version ... not the re-written "the juvenile" from the da capo c.d.??

Do you have a link to that version on YouTube?

Edit: Nevermind, just found it. :)
