It certainly does have an air of surrealism to it which would probably look phenomenal on film, but I'd contend the northern island of Hokkaido could be put to better use for an adaptation of YOLT, both in keeping with the Japanese setting, and with using the nature of the island to reflect the tone of the story and/or Bond's state of mind/emotions. Assuming it were to still be a distraught Bond has his revenge, of course.

No. Relatively the island of Hokkaido in my opinion is a much less interesting place, and in my mind there wouldn't be a revenge plot, though the Shatterhand death cult idea would stay.

Borneo, Java and Bali are all surreal and fantastical places but not sombre and dark, which isn't what the franchise needs right now.

Not too big on Paris myself. As a location, s'pose it works fine, but I've always preferred Nice and Marseille, and both cities could work very well in a Bond film.

Not that I'm against Paris, but The Bourne Identity and Ronin also visited the place. So, they'll have to find new locations there.

That would be nice. If were going to have a European-only movie, then I would like to see Paris, followed by Swiss Alps, followed by Istanbul.

Why not Istanbul indeed... its treatment as a location in TWINE was totally disappointing.

I'd say: Istanbul, followed by some place(s) in Central Asia.

Personally I think we've had too much of mainland Europe in the last two films.

I would like to see Bond go to places he has never been, actually:

- Scandinavia (preferably Stockholm or Copenhagen)
- Moscow (strangely enough Bond has never been to the Russian capital)
- Brussels (European capital)
- Rome (he really needs to go there, but we have had a lot of Italy in the other two)
- Luxembourg (may not sound glamorous to all, but it's a lovely place)

We had Iceland in DAD and that was ruined, but like you said there's still Scandinavia, Ireland and Germany!

Yes, I think we've only seen Germany feature in Octopussy and Tomorrow Never Dies, so maybe we could see Bond in Munich. Although maybe Bregenz in Austria (from QOS) is too similar.

I think Bond has been deliberately kept out of Ireland.
