Quite. I've tried (perhaps unsuccessfully) to make this general point in numerous overheated threads over the years. But your post rung nicely.

Actually if you're expecting Casino Royale to resemble a Brosnan film you'll be quite disappointed. Brosnan's Bond's always started off great and degenerated into nothing but action sequences for the last hour of the film. Casino Royale on the other hand has it's two big action sequences in the first half of the film, the Latino Review implied that the big action sequences are at the start of the film.
Good! That is reminiscent of FYEO, which "front loaded" a lot of the action scenes within the first half of the film (I wouldn't count the underwater chase and mountain climbing sequence as "action oriented" as the ski/bobsled chase). I personally am of the thinking that is refreshing to see an "anticlimatic" ending in a Bond movie every so often. Let's just hope the producers stick to the program and don't shoehorn three more action sequences into the movie just for the sake of more action!

The "low scale" action sequence on the Train between Robert Shaw and Connery was classic!
Let's all keep our fingers crossed that CR will hold a candle to that sort of film.

The finale does take place in venice so I imagine that the boat chase would fit really well (actually the boat chase can be an extension of the action scene already in the script, it seems a perfect fit).
And even with the boat chase, the finale is still going to be more low key than the last few Bond films, I promise

Apparently they're adding a boat chase into the the film (not in the script I read).

Yeah, the finale will be fine until they add a fight on the Golden Gate Bridge, and a parachute jump off the Eiffel Tower!
Seriously though, I hope they don't add a boat chase either. Been there, done that, and it's so not necessary for a so-called "more down to earth" Bond film. Why can't the producers just leave well enough alone and end the movie with a good old fashioned fist fight?
Just curious Jimmy, where did you hear about the boat chase being added? FYI, I know this a spoilers area, but I'm trying to keep from reading the details of the script. I'm just curious about general things, like the Gunbarrel, score, etc. But I would like to know where you heard about this boat chase rumor.

Your AVTAK analogy doesnt work as that wasnt a down to Earth Bond film anyways. A boat chase can be incredibly simple if they want to do it that way. The boat chase in the remake of The Italian Job was breathtaking, after I saw that film I wished Bond would have done something like that. And now they are.

(since when did Bond whine about his life expectancy?),
Bond's not whining about anything with that bit, he's making a flippant remark to M, there's actually more to that line than what's in the trialer.
Granted, but for some reason I find my faith in CASINO ROYALE slipping a bit. "Be careful what you wish for", "You don't know what you've got till it's gone".... such phrases are coming to mind. Now excuse me while I go and write some "Remington Steele" fanfiction.
Half-kidding, as ever, but I think Roebuck's got it right, and that CR will be considerably closer to a Brosnan Bond (albeit a superior kind of Brosnan Bond) than FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE. As Harmsway points out, realistic hopes are better than wild ones.
Hmm, none of the Brosnan movies were based on an Ian Fleming novel. They were all high octane action flics with a character named Bond. We are at least getting a Fleming adaptation. That is better than anything in the last 11 years.

Hmm... don't think I'd really like to see a boat chase either. I admit that the ending and Vesper's death as it is in the script draft does seem to be lacking a certain something, but I can't quite put my finger on it. I don't think it necessarily needs more action - I was just struggling to picture it all at present. Having said that, I think the very last scene of the script has the potential to be one of the greatest moments in Bond history... if done correctlyI'm not sure if it's confirmed or not, but there has been talks of a boat chase.
