The price is killing me, but I want it. Hey, we region 1 collectors finally get a cool case!

I don't want to play the negative card, but does that VIP guest stars thing sound a little like that mission control section of the Bond UEs where you access certain scenes? Maybe it will be cool, but it just sounds like a bunch of guest star clips.

Where are the other movies ? At this price, I want an extra box with all the movies, we only get the first one in two versions it seems ? Oh, they also should have done this set in 1.66 / 16/9 remastered from the negatives. I want my UNCLE filling up the whole screen !

I see that the crying and moaning has already begun.

U.N.C.L.E. fans should realize how lucky they are. Not only are they getting the ENTIRE series at once, with vintage AND new bonus features, but the MUSIC from the show is available as well. That's forty one DVDs, and with the FSM music, three 2-disc sets and another disc of music from the films. You're spoiled rotten, guys!

I had some software and computer issues, but I have finally put an ordering link on my Web page, The Man From UNCLE episode guide:

So if you haven't ordered yet but may be interested, go to:

http://members.aol.c...nig/unclepg.htm

And click on the link at the top. Takes you straight to the ordering page on Time Life.

I see that the crying and moaning has already begun.

You are absolutely right. I retract anything negative I may have said.

The first link I clicked on was the official site and I didn't see all the other featurettes and features the TV On DVD had listed, which was so much more than I had originally thought.

Let the festivities recommence.

Cinema Retro has an article analysing the ins-n-outs of who owns the rights to TMFUNCLE.

Whatever the final outcome though, the DVD megaset will still be released come November!

Don't worry, Turner Classic Movies is showing all eight of the movies uncut and commercial free on Nov. 6. So, just fire up your DVD Recorder. :D

OK guys! Fill me in. I have NEVER seen a single episode of Man from U.N.C.L.E. Not one. Should I buy this DVD set?

Tell me if you think I'd like U.N.C.L.E., since I'm a Bond fan, my two favorite TV shows are Mission Impossible and The Saint and I have also recently enjoyed watching the Persuaders (I like that a bit less) and Secret Agent/Danger Man (I purchased the entire series on DVD - NEW - for $31 on Ebay!). Get Smart is in my top 5 favorite comedies of all time.

So, knowing my taste in shows as listed above, will I like Man from U.N.C.L.E.? Why? Why should I shell out this much cash for a show I've never seen?

Give me a reason. What's this show like? Help an U.N.C.L.E. ignorant person understand! :D

Much as I like U.N.C.L.E., I would never tell someone who has never seen an episode to buy the entire series sight unseen. Had you watched the recent marathon of U.N.C.L.E. movies on TCM, you would've gotten a crash course and could've made an informed decision as to purchasing the set or not. Unless it is airing on some cable station or you know someone who has episodes on tape, or who buys this set and lends you a dvd so you can sample some episodes, I suggest you wait until the individual seasons become available, then buy a season and enjoy.

Given you like the above shows, I think you'd like UNCLE. It's considered the premiere show of its time in the spy genre, although others may disagree in retrospect.

Its four seasons are all somewhat different, although the 3rd and 4th seasons tend to repeat earlier shows in many ways. For instance, the third season has an awful lot of scientist and his daughter shows where UNCLE fights THRUSH for some scientific device and the fourth has a number of episodes with traitors or would-be traitors. It's that way, though, with any serie. I've noticed that with a lot of the color Saint episodes.

As far as investing $250 in the entire series, I'd have to say that's entirely up to you, Daddy Bond. Given you don't have much background on the show, all the extras may seem underwhelming. If you can wait, these will be released by seasons in 2008 or so it's claimed. Personally, I am on the fence right now as whether to buy these now or wait and I'm somebody who spent years in the late '80s and early '90s taping these off TNT.

Hope that helps.

At AOL's In2TV, you can sample a number of episodes for free, including most first-season episodes. You can judge for yourself whether the show is worth buying. Also, Time Life is offering the first-season only in addition to the entire series.

And for a reference source, well, I have a Web site that discusses the show in a fair amount of detail:

I have decided I am probably going to go ahead and get these while I can. But I've got a few questions:

Any idea if I can still get these by Christmas is I order them soon? One site has a discount code, but does that apply to if I wanted to do the payments and how much is shipping? Any help would be appreciated.

Shipping is free (according to T/L). Shameless plug: the 15 percent discount code is AFNOV9. (The code is for the amount of the *total* purchase; as I understand it, that would apply whether you're paying all at once or in installments. Go to my site and click on the T/L icon. It sounds like you *should* get it by Christmas.

I feel like I'm being somewhat blatant, but people at other fan sites have been beyond aggressive in promoting their link to UNCLE fans.

Viacom may have made the tv-movie, but that packaging looks pretty pedestrian. I doesn't look like it was released by Paramount.

I didn't get the UNCLE set for Christmas, but I did receive Jon Heitland's UNCLE book, which will serve as a fine primer for the show itself, whenever I get it...
