I vacationed in Jamaica some years ago. When I was walking through the Jamaican airport, which looked the same as the one in "Dr. No," I kept hearing that damn Bond theme song, and expecting to see Jack Lord popping up.

I've been to

Amsterdam (DAF)
Piz Gloria (OHMSS)
Las Vegas (DAF)
Los Angeles (DAF)
Hamburg (TND)
London (I think every film)
New York (LALD)
Dover (DAF)
Key West (LTK)
San Francisco (AVTAK)
Paris (AVTAK, Thunderball)
Bahamas (Thunderball and some others)
Miami Beach (Goldfinger)

and...

Last but not least, there is a very, very small town 10 miles from here called Waldo. It's got it's fame from being the nation's biggest speedtrap and it's got a nice fleemarket. Bond took the train to Waldo and stopped there for a couple of minutes in Live and Let Die, Ian Fleming's book.

I've talked with people in Waldo about it and they can't even believe it!

From memory - and in no particular order -

Piz Gloria
New York
Key West
The Ritz
Scott's (the new one on Mount Street)
Villa d'Este (visited in one of the late Gardner's - Never Send Flower's, I think)
Paris - Fouquet's and Cafe de La Paix (see From A View to a Kill)
Monaco - the Casino and Hotel de Paris (see Role of Honour)
Marbella Club (Doubleshot)
Geneva - Hotel des Bergues (Goldfinger)
Miami Aiport (Goldfinger novel - drank a couple of double bourbons)
Heathrow airport (does that count!!)
Oh and in my much younger days, Pinewood and one of Dave Worrall's tours

Plus trips to places like London, Edinburgh, Brussels, Philadelphia, etc

It's in the hills between Covarrubias en st. Domingo de los Silos.
In Covarrubias you can go horse riding (like we did) and travel there 'in style'... If you're interested, I have some photos from the site.

Although I am a huge Bond location fan, it was truly the most impressive site I have ever visited!

Well, I know is has got nothing to do with this topic, but...

It is funny to see how all the 'graves' still appear to be there.
(Hey, here's the Bond connection. Bond had trouble with Graves as well.. )

the bumps-that-used-to-be-graves have been overgrown and that's what makes them still visible, especially from a higher view point.

Now, let's return to this thread's topic.. :D

Gee that last destination you mentioned must've been exciting... :)

I've been to quite a few you mentioned (Venice, Amsterdam, Paris, Hamburg, London), but perhaps the place I enjoyed the most purely for the whole 'Bond factor' was Corfu (from FYEO). They used a number of locations in the film -
the casino is a building called Achilleon Palace (the first official casino in Greece, coincidentally) and you can stroll through the statue-flanked courtyard where Bond and Kristatos dined and where the earlier scene (with Melina telling Bond she hasn't had the courage to go through her father's office)was filmed. Plus, there's Corfu Town itself, although I couldn't find St Cyrils... and the Vlacherna Monastery that juts out into the bay at Kanoni where Bond picks up Melina before they go shopping for the crew (this location, by the way, is absolutely breathtaking). I could go on...

Slightly off topic, I know, but visting certain Bond locations you often wonder whether the filmmakers did any justice to showcasing them - take Hamburg as a case in point. I think it's an absolutely stunning city yet they completely bastardised it in TND - save for one flimsy, half-decent shot of the port at dawn there is no indication that the film is actually set in Hamburg. What ever happened to establishing shots? Oh well, that's my personal gripe, although things are looking hopeful for CR (if that overhead shot of the castle at Loket in the Japanese trailer is anything to go by).

Yes, went to Corfu, but didn't go near any of the Bond locations (I was 21, and there were bikini-clad British girls everywhere!!), so I didn't count it. Would have been great to see the locations you mentioned.

I agree about Hamburg in TND. The Carver building wasn't even in Hamburg. It's the IBM building at Bedfont Lakes in England.

Cool, 007Travis.

Did you have a favourite location out of those?

I must say I enjoyed James Bond Island, because the tour included the showing of TMWTGG on the bus on the way to the port.

In the Bahamas I dove the skeletal remains of the mocked-up bomber from Thunderball. It looked like an underwater jungle gym and even knowing what it looked like in the movie it was still hard to imagine it as a jet.

Not far from it we also dove the same sunken ship as Bond and Fatima in NSNA. It looked the same as in the movie and was a great dive.

Yes, I felt very much like Bond as that sunken ship came into view. I was humming the Bond theme underwater, and highly recommend the dive!

I've been to Hemingway House in Key West, Florida USA (used for LTK), and the Fountainbleu Hilton Hotel in Miami Beach (the beginning of the main part of GF). That shot of the I-95 freeway used in CR is familiar to me but I don't recognize the buildings in the background. Only at Hemingway House there was a guide pointing out the exact locations that the LTK crew used to get their shots for the film. Hopefully I will be able to go to the Bahamas and Jamaica to see those locations also.

Venice, Italy. I was there one month after they shot the scenes for Casino Royale. Too bad I missed it!! Anyway, that was a great place. St. Mark's Square is my favorite place. You can feed the pigeons, and it's actually really fun. I'm the ultimate tourist, I will admit. I also went to Paris, France and walked up the Eiffel Tower where Roger Moore chased Mayday. It was amazing.

I have also been to Las Vegas. :cooltongue:
