I am a little disappointed that Bond is returning to Venice. Don't get me wrong, I have had the great pleasure to visit Venice twice and it really is a beautiful place. But I would have been happier with Sorrento and The Bay of Naples, for example.

As we all know, Venice has already featured quite extensively in From Russia With Love and Moonraker. Perhaps, Babs & Mickey feel they owe a debt to Venice after the double take pigeon/Bondola sequence.

Yeah I agree and if it is a boat chase, well, that is hardly original. I'm thinking Moonraker and that awful remake of The Italian Job. If they do decide to set it around the wonderful, surreal mask festival like they did in "Midnight Train to Venice" it will be great. This would really add to the film's dose of culture. It would be a great move. A spooky, surreal festival where people aren't what they seem, sort of like Vesper. Please do this Eon! If it isn't in the script add it now! The extras only need to be wearing the costumes and masks.

I'm a little confused. They said the action was more down to earth yet Craig claims they have huge action set pieces and this special effects chap said this scene in Venice will be his most challenging to date.

So, that makes 3 action scenes so far excluding the pre title sequence if you actually count this as action. We are bound to have four however, with the new DBS, and there is a car chase scene in the book. I wonder if Bond will write it off? Let's hope we don't have 5 action scenes! Then this really will be just another "action packed" (as the press refer to it) Bond movie. How many action scenes did OHMSS have?

Do you think they'll still have those two jokers with the briefcases? It doesn't really sound like it but they may. I hope so. This was quite an offbeat Fleming scene.

Although I love the idea of Bond going back to traditional, exotic and exciting locations in Casino Royale, I'm a little bit disappointed with the choice of Venice, too. Granted, Venice is a beautiful city with a lot to discover in, but I think it has - similar to Prague - been done to dead in recent movies. Italian Job played there, Connery's League played there and Bond has been to Venice already twice. Not sure if my memory plays tricks on me, but wasn't Venice also a location of a Gardner novel?

Then of course we had Indiana Jones there and he has done the Venecian catacombs to dead as well. As hinted by Moore Not Less, why not use another Italian town? For example, Bond has yet to go to Rome.

A not very absurde idea of mine was that Venice can be easily arrived from Montenegro, but then again, Bond films never stuck to geographic circumstances.

Even if Venice has been used before - it
