Eva Green looks like she'll make a great Vesper Lynd!

Eva Green is beautiful, with a mystique and exotic flair about her that most of her competitors (save Byrne) lacked, and will certainly make for one of the best-looking and probably most interesting and overall greatest Bond girls ever. Hope we see more of Rose Byrne in the future, though, as I grew to have a small crush on her.
Jeffrey Wright looks like he could make a solid Felix. I have high hopes, and if we're lucky we'll start seeing the character have as much continuity as Bond and M, insofar as the actors involved are concerned.
Mads Mikkelsen seems to be a bold pick, and has a chilling look and presence that could transcend his differences with the traditional interpretation of the literary Le Chiffre.
All in all, very good news. Perhaps they are reserving Mr. Tarrach for the role of the new recurring Blofeld-esque figure?

The official website, has updated with the new casting news.
That's funny that Coming Soon, Mi6 and CBN scooped the official website of its own press release LOL

Now if they'd just get Dalton back and tell us that the leaked script is a fake...December 15 couldn't get here fast enough!

There's nothing wrong with celebrating and hoping for that. For me, this confirms CR is just another Bond film, which in itself would have been reason enough to get excited. The more I am hearing about this film, the better I feel about its possibilities.
This will be the best bond film since the living daylights!!!
It looks as though it has the potential to be the best one ever. Or is that a foolish statement?
Wright is an inspired choice. The one film he made an impression on me was Basquiat. He's by far the best actor ever to have played the Leiter role. Giannini is a well known name in Italy and will add some old school class. Green looks mysterious enough to make a convincing Vesper just on looks alone. I will have to check out The Dreamers.
What I like about some of this casting is it will give Daniel Craig several strong actors to bounce his acting talent off of, not just people to bounce quips off. I also like the point somebody else made about not using the fan favorites Robbie Coletrane types and such.
Except for Dench, who may also rise to the occasion, as John Lennon put it, it will be just like starting over.

Don't worry....there were some fans who said she had not been cast either.
They have been strangely silent since the official announcement that she has been cast as Vesper.

Not at all, Loomis, since your enthusiasm is a wonderful counterbalance to all the folks on unnamed other forums who cannot be moved from the conviction that CR will be a disaster.
However, I am kind of surprised not to see you trumpeting the casting of a black Felix as a nod to NSNA...

Don't worry....I am very excited about the fact that Felix Leiter has been cast as a black man. Perhaps Never Say Never Again's biggest fan on CBn I have long been assailed by people who insist that Felix is white....
I now feel a slight sense of vindication that an EON movie will feature a black Felix.
But really it's the Eva Green casting that has me giddy with excitement. Ever since I saw THE DREAMERS she has been on a Bond actress wish-list of mine.

Boy if they drop the ball we're gonna be really dissapointed!

How do we muster the joy and enthusiasm for Bond 22 if this one is another dud? *shudder*
Of course I'm an eternal optimist...kinda like every time a new SW prequel showed up I was drooling like a fanboy should...

i guess continuity is not something they care much about
LOL
1. It's a reboot
2. There have been numerous actors playing the role that look nothing alike, this wouldn't be any different

Well it's not the first time that Felix Leiter has been played by a black actor.
I knew you would notice that!

Tobias Menzies looks great for the part of M's assistent Villiers (very reminscent of Gabriel Mann who played a similar part in the Bourne series).
The casting of CASINO ROYALE seems as though it was done by the Bourne folks rather than Eon (this is a great compliment towards Eon, although I'm aware it sounds a backhanded one). Talented character actors and future stars - just look at all the actors and actresses in IDENTITY and SUPREMACY who've since made it big. No "public favourites" like Cleese and Coltrane, no "eternal villains" like Carlyle and Pryce, and no "US-friendly stars" like Berry and Denise Richards this time round. Good. As someone has said on this thread, it's a "cool" cast (but, more importantly, a very high quality one too). Excellent work.
Agreed.
I would find it virtually impossible, at this point, for Casino Royale to become one of the over-the-top action without substance films that I'd feared it might become now that so many top-notch and respected actors and actresses are on board for this film. Like I said earlier in the thread, I think that EON has put together the best cast for a Bond film quite possibly since On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

And Jeffrey Wright is a coup! Bernie Casey is my favorite Leiter, so he follows in good footsteps. He's a consumate actor, a real actor's actor, incredibly professional and respected. There's nothing about Leiter that has to be any age or race, so it makes sense to cast color-blind. Leiter in the past has been old enough to be Bond's father (Cec Linder), Bond's equal (Jack Lord), and in between (Norm Burton). He's been black, blonde, and gray. So clearly Eon felt no constraints. I hope Wright has signed a multi-picture deal.
Giancarlo Giannini is also a great move. Like Emilio Ecchevaria in DAD, he'll bring great gravitas and flavor to his role.

I damn near hit the ceiling with surprise at this new aspect of EON: they finally have balls.

As someone said above, this is very old-school,
