That's cool but I was hoping for Young Bond Dossier merchandise. I'd wear a YBD T-shirt! :)

New site updates...

Because I needed it for myself, I've added a no-frills Book Release Calendar -- all the upcoming books for 2007/2008/2009.

Hey all.

So I've updated The Young Bond Dossier to iWeb 2.0. One of the many improvements is that I'm free of that pesky web.mac URL. However, this means you'll need to re-bookmark some of your URLs:

www.youngbonddossier.com will now take you direct to my Home page (if it still takes you to the big splash page with the eye logo, empty cache). Or you can just click here. From now on, you should see youngbonddossier in all the URL headings for all pages.

The most important change is the RSS. The URL is now completely different and the old one is dead. So if you subscribe to my news feed, you'll need to update with this:

http://www.youngbond...ty_News/rss.xml

Also feel free to click away on my new Google adds so I can make the big bucks. :cooltongue:

In case you've noticed, the site is down at the moment. Going through some update issues with .Mac. Should be back up soon (I hope).

If need be, I'll put updates on the YBD mySpace page:

Did you fix the character encoding too? I think that's what it was anyway. May be your browser, I don't know, but I noticed it is "We are back" instead of the previous title "We're back" which resulted in a dead link.

Nice to see you're back up and running though. :cooltongue:

Thanks.

The problem was with my .Mac account which has gone haywire. .Mac's tech support is via email only and it was ridiculous. You can read all my bitching and moaning here.

The Admiral came to my rescue and let me move the entire site to CBn's server, something I should have done long ago. Not sure what went weird with the "We're back" story...but I did suspect it had something to do with the apostrophe or the exclamation point in the title (and URL). I know the server doesn't like those.

Hell it's a website, it shouldn't matter what OS it is.

Listening to some of the other problems he's had, I'm not sure if iWeb was ever intended to be used for something as big as YBD. I would assume so... but ... I have no idea.... his problems sound rather odd....Yeah.. bloody Macs. :D Now he's probably hosted on a Linux server. Welcome to the PC world Zencat.

It wasn't iWeb, it wasn't my computer, it wasn't my network, it wasn't my ISP, it wasn't even really .Mac. It my specific .Mac account. As a test, AppleCare created a dummy .Mac account for me and I was able to publish fine. The real problem was I could not get a hold of .Mac (they are separate from Apple somehow -- and maybe that's the real problem) to have them resent or even zap my account and give me a new one. Their email only help system is a joke. All I got from them after 5 days of waiting was a form email telling me to do all the steps I had already done with AppleCare. After that, they just cut me loose. I had no option but to move.

The talented Mister Asterix has created a special advert for the site. Pretty slick, eh?

We made it for KKBB, but I'm going to use it elsewhere. In fact, I'm redesigning my website Home page with it.

The Young Bond Dossier is now on Twitter. I'm still experimenting with how to best use it, but I'm thinking instead of just posting links back to my news, I will encapsulate the news item into the 140 character limit, so you'll have it all there. I'll also include some non-Young Bond stuff (like wishing Dalton a happy birthday) and "tweets" about what I'm expecting from IFP and maybe some Top Secret Bond stuff. B) In this way, it's something different.

Please follow me.

So I've decided I'm going to cease updating The Young Bond Dossier after the release of the SilverFin Special Editions on May 5 and the By Royal Command U.S. paperback on May 10. There just isn't enough Young Bond news happening or on the horizon to justify the site, and I've come to really hate creaky old iWeb, especially after discovering the joys of Blogger. (But I will leave YBD online as an archive.)

From now on, all literary James Bond news, young and old, can be found at my main Bond blog, The Book Bond. I've also changed Twitter to @TheBookBond. Hope to see you there!

No more updates after May 10
