One interesting bit of trivia/tie-in to the old Bond movies- Coral Harbor, which is now the site for parts of Casino Royale, was a planned housing development on the south shore of New Providence Island in the early 60's and was under development when Thunderball was being filmed there. In the scene where Bond first meets Domino, and requests a ride on her boat, he asks "You wouldn't happen to be going to Coral Harbor, would you?", and Domino replies that she wasn't but she could. It was anticipated that the reference would be to a nice housing development where most of the homes are on inlets where they could tie up their boats behind their house. The subdivision never really took off to any extent (at least it had not when I saw it 2 years ago), and eventually part of the subdivision was taken over as the home base for the Bahamian Royal Navy (due to the several inlets and canals cut in for the never-built houses), just next to the abandoned hotel mentioned in the article. Bond and Domino do not actually go to Coral Harbor in the movie; the beach would not have been as busy as the one that was actually used in the movie, which was on the north shore of Paradise Island, just west of where the Atlantis Resort and the new condominiums under construction are now located. The beach at Coral Harbor is a little rocky (hence its name?) but it has gorgeous southern views to the southern Caribbean Sea! I look forward to seeing how they use this interesting location in the movie!
