The second trailer is for M:i:III, which stands for Mission: Impossible III. The second one was that very rare occasion where the sequel was better than the original, at least I think so. But this one looks to be even better then the first two movies.
Just click the titles for the teaser trailers.

I heard Michael Talbott (Switek) talking about the drinking game a month ago on the radio. What a thrill.

It's always fun having a party where the women have to dress as hookers!
All of the invites for the parties had the tagline "Please, no earthtones...pastels only"

Possibly.
At worst, this film is going to ROCK. At best.... well, I doubt we're talking about another solid gold masterpiece like HEAT, but, hey, who knows?
Not fond of the leads, though (although I'm looking forward to seeing Gong Li in her role), and what's the story with that moustache on Farrell? Don Johnson was always cleanshaven, wasn't he? Never mind. As Tarl says, Michael Mann is the star. And he usually shines.

I'm gonna be in franchise movie heaven over the next 18 months or so: M:I-3, CASINO ROYALE, ROCKY BALBOA, THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM, and this. And it looks as though the '80s are back in a big way (with DIE HARD 4 and RAMBO 4 rumoured). Yeah, baby!

Oh no, it is the coolest teaser ever. The song made the trailer. It's called "Numb/ Encore" by Linkin Park and Jay-Z. I'm not the biggest fan of Colin Farrell, but I think he'll be really good in this film. Jamie Foxx will rock as well.Coolest. Teaser. Ever.
Possibly.

The one thing that really gets me with this movie is the one thing that will also drive alot of people away. It is so different than the original TV show, and no one could have pulled this off other than Michael Mann. I can't wait to see how it transistions

Don Johnson usually had a 3 day beard but no 'stache. He looks like an 80's pørn star or COP but then again, that's the point huh? I really missed the Miami Vice theme music-it's priceless and it woulda been nice to see Farrel in a white suit...ah well...I'm there regardless.

And I think we do indeed see Farrell sporting the pastels and whites at some point in the film.

As stated by others, the only saving grace this film has for me is that it's directed by Michael Mann (who originally worked on the TV series in addition to Heat and Collateral).
I guess we'll see.

(I remember it being on TV when I was a kid, but never paid much attention to it. Worth checking out?)
Agreed with Gabe Vieira that only Mann could have done this. Imagine someone like McG taking it down the big screen CHARLIE'S ANGELS route. *Shudder*

The original series - any good?
(I remember it being on TV when I was a kid, but never paid much attention to it. Worth checking out?)
Yes, definitely. Mann wrote and directed. Forget the fashions - really good (and quite gritty) series. You may notice an influence on a certain Bond film, too.

Might well seek it out on DVD, then. I like the music - I imagine watching the series would be reminiscent of that "Grand Theft Auto" game where you can drive around "Vice City" (which looks like Miami) causing carnage while listening to an '80s nostalgia radio station.
I remember "Crockett's Theme" being a huge hit in 1987 or thereabouts. I hope it crops up in the film somewhere.
On a related note, I watched some of COLLATERAL last night. Good film (and incredibly stylish, as usual with Mann), but the script really lets it down. HEAT remains by far his best, IMO, with THE INSIDER probably in second place.

The series began with a very gritty personal vengeance storyline.

All the things of my teen-child years are coming back???
now, Colin Farrel as Crockett.. NO WAY sorry. While I think Foxx may be a very, very good choice (provided he doesn't play "himself"), I am not sold on Farrel.
I don't picture him as Crockett at all, he has none of the looks Don Johnson had. Like someone else said, I, too, would rather see Don Johnson come back as he is now than Farrel!

What's with that moustache!?? Don Johnson launched a fashion in the 80s with his "stubble" (two-day beard..) and we have this guy with moustache?!
And one thing they must have in this movie (and I don't know if it's there) is the original soundtrack. That, too, became such a huge hit and such an integral part of the show that it cannot possibly be ignored. Both Crockett's theme and Brothers in Arms MUST be there!!

Incidentally, the guns for the original Miami Vice series were partly provided by the dad of one of my schoolmates.. who was the owner of a big Italian gun-making company, called Tanfoglio.
Loomis, if you've never seen Miami Vice, it's DEFINITELY worth checking out. It is gritty and often doesn't have the "happy ending" people expect from a normal police tv series. And the music, the protagonists, the guest stars.. just priceless.

Ah note: the suits of Don Johnson in the original series were Armani of course!

The use of Dire Straits' Brothers In Arms will probably bring a lump to your throat.
Hmmm.... Dire Straits normally brings vomit to my throat.
I think I did catch an episode once. Phil Collins played a crook. Hang on: Dire Straits, Phil Collins, this ain't sounding good. Nah, seriously, this show does sound pretty decent.

Thanks for the feedback, too, Alessandra. But the role of Sonny Crockett's about more than just looks, y'know.

I love Dire Straits.. and they certainly invented a sound that set the standards for 80s music... and I like Phil Collins too, and Sting!!
And you as a 30-year-old are neglecting the true roots of your childhood-teen years!!

For some reason, Dire Straits and Steely Dan are the two bands I listen to most on my iPod. Perhaps they just sound the best through headphones.)
Ahem.
Nice trailer.

It's called "Out where the busses don't run" and it stars the late, great Bruce McGill as a former Vice cop.
Apparently that episode was based on a real incident.
