I can see three alternatives:

1. Patrick Stewart. 'Nuff Said.
2. Let George Lazenby do it (if he is willing), in deference to Michael Sloan's original intent and since I believe he will be involved with the film.
3. The alternative that I think is most interesting -- Develop the film with a "passing the torch to a new Equalizer" theme as mentioned earlier, and cast Edward Woodward's son, Peter Woodward, in the role. that would be cool, and if you have seen Peter Woodward work (Galen on Babylon 5, among other roles), you know that his father's style is quite visible in his style.

Great choices! And yes Peter Woodward has his dad's style in spades.

G'day i must admit would like to see Brosnan get the roll but now i have heard word of the other Movie he may do The November Man i would sooner see him in that, as for Dalton well i don't think his agent is good enough as we last saw Dalton in that Looney toon film well he was hardly in it. He certainly can play a hard man but they may go for a big name which he didn't quite get too, which i think was wrong again by the bond producers draging it out for 6 years when he could had 3 more films under his belt.

i thought of someone like Sean Bean he can do a good english voice and is around 45 in age i'm sure he could play a older person. If lewis collins wasn't too old he could do it. one regret he didn't get the chance to be James Bond he would of been closer to connery i feel. Another maybe John Nettles again he maybe too old. this has got me thinking. I mean Edward Woodward was so good i even remember him in Callan another gritty show that had you on the edge of your seat and pulled no punches. I guess i will just keep Looking.

There seems to be a bit of buzz on the net from Equalizer fans promoting Ciaran Hinds for the role. He hasn't been mentioned yet on this thread, but he makes a lot of sense to me. He is British and 53 - a good age for the start of an Equalizer franchise. He is an excellent, experienced actor with a growing Hollywood profile, appearing alongside Craig in Munich, and soon to be seen in Miami Vice. I also think that he has the right sort of looks, in that he is not a conventional pretty boy, but has some of Woodward's raw toughness. I think he could well be the best suggestion so far.

The writers were announced today.

Michael Connelly and Terrill Lee Lankford

I guess Connelly wrote the novel that Clint Eastwood's Blood Work is based on. That's pretty much all they're known for.

After seeing this thread, I needed a fix. If any of you do, it's here:

I love the shot as the elevator light flickers...

Great theme music by Stewart Copeland from The Police. Glad to hear they're back together again.
