Cheers Trident, I'm happy with the way it turned out. As for the watch it's actually a normal navigational compass I've thrown onto a leather band!
Compliments to the chef! Hitch you've done a fantastic job!

Christ, that sounds preachy, but it is true.
It's a very enjoyable story from what I have read thus far.
Definite cheers.

Hitch, when is the story based, because I'm hearing references of the war and Loelia Ponsonby. So I'm guessing it's before TMWTGG?

I've left various clues and hints in TWIMC as to the dating of the story - there are a few more later on. Sorry to be so opaque.

On second thoughts:
Thanks very much for your enquiry regarding TWIMC's dating. I hope I didn't come across as brusque when answering your question; its just that I thought you might enjoy the story more if you picked up the references as you went along - and it's still early days for TWIMC and I didn't want to get too explicit in the thread just yet. Maybe tomorrow.

I can tell you that TWIMC is set before 2005.

Thanks for sticking with the story - hopefully you'll have come to the obligatory sex and violence by now.

Note:
A brand new, spectacular cover has been created for Hitch's To Whom It May Condemn!
You can view the new cover, as well as a fantastic layout cover in the fanfiction posting thread.. (You can print the picture through the general process of right clicking, 'saving the target as', etc).
Due to the size and hosting, the picture may be slightly blurry.

You'll be pleased to hear (wake up at the back!) that TWIMC has been mentioned in the press. I thought CBn readers might like to read the following article, one of many that are now in circulation:
(From Volume CVII of Homer Nods, a periodical devoted to the fine and decorative arts.)
Bibliophilia:
The Property of a Gentleman
As is often the case with books subject to great public demand, confusion can arise from the proliferation of various editions and versions rushed out by a publisher caught unawares. These quirks and foibles are the delight of discerning collectors but, if not catalogued fully, can lead the unwary connoisseur to uninformed and costly purchases.
The first edition of To Whom It May Condemn is now out of print, and has been replaced by a second edition, recognisable by the gatefold jacket that bears the publisher

I have finally gotten the chance to sit down and indulge in all the books I'd been staring at weeks before this college winter break. This little fanfic is high up on my list. First off Hitch, you are far too modest--this is a story in the very mold of the literary 007. The opening chapter just strikes a chord with me personally and it doesn't let up when that first chapter ends. (I must make a note that stewardesses and planes make for great openings

Dreary London: check.
M, being straight to the point: check.
Bond being bored: check.
Pigeons: check.
It's all there.
As you can see, I've only made my way through the first couple chapters, but this is a great read so far Hitch. Elegant and entertaining. I'll be back for more feedback!

*selfish post alert*
If I could change just one thing about TWIMC (which I could, but I'm too lazy), it would be to cut by half the number of appearances of a four-letter word beginning with the letter "B". The excessive mention of "Bond" is a remnant of the early days of my story, when I was so lacking in confidence that I had to keep writing the word just so I could say to myself, "See, you can write a Bond story after all," and thus spur myself to complete my crappy fanfic. The second half of the book doesn't offend so much in this regard, but there's still not enough use of the third person pronoun. Tsk. And some (well, a lot) of the prose...

But I had a lot of fun trying to recreate that Fleming vibe.

All of which rambling leads me to ask: did anyone actually finish the damned thing and did they enjoy it? TWIMC infected CBn nearly two months ago and I genuinely haven't a clue if it was loved, loathed or ignored. Please be honest - decent criticism/comments are most welcome.
One last point. I tried to cram in quite a few Bond references and in-jokes to cover the story's failings, and I cheekily tried to shed some light here and there on Bond's history. Did anyone notice/like/despise these bits and pieces?
Any and all feedback gratefully received.
