What is the evidence that Fleming prounced it Royal rather than Royale? As he spoke French I'm sure he would not have pronounced it incorrectly.

It does ring a bell- I think he says it like that in a filmed interview that is about somewhere.

He pronounced it royal (family) in the BBC interviews given at Goldeneye. It might be on the LD dvd Fleming bio.
