I'm a big advocate of Hugh Jackman as Bond. But pertaining to this topic of the 28 year old Bond, I have to say Jack Davenport.

it is clear that we now must count on Alex o`Lachlan or Goran Visnjic. For me personally it will be Visnjic-I have bet on the ER-Doctor, but I am a little disappointed cause you can`t make money with this if he indeed becomes bond.
so, alex is 28 and goran is 33-both are considerable.

It's not really clear--we don't have info to be sure. I know SNF i'm stating the obvious but just directly answering an individual post. :)

I am too much blinded by my love for Emergency Room. To be honest, I did not know much about his movies, but I have watched Deep End to get an other view on him and I liked him very much,he is very bondian indeed-the problem is when you always perceive him as luka in his doctor`s suit. He just is a cool 007, when I close my eyes and imagine how bond should be: masculine and tall, dark hair,a pretty face and mysterious eyes which reveal some kind of dark soul behind the outer look-it is just luka of all contenders who comes close to my imagination. He reminds me of the young sean connery and wasn`t he the best bond ever? So if goran visnjic goes into that direction,I think it is going to be a pretty good movie.

What are you basing that on, Seannery? We don't really have enough info to know just how likely it is yet.

See how totally fruitless saying that to everything is yet? You will one day, I hope. :)

I think it's good that Seannery keeps us grounded with respect to these rumors. When a particular person is the subject of a rumor, it seems like every other candidate in the world is forgotten about. That can also lead to "fruitless" discussion: the candidate most likely "works" if the script and direction serves to emphasize his strengths and mask his weaknesses, which is something we can't know yet; he most likely doesn't "work" if the opposite is true; the people who like him will generally continue to like him; and the people who don't like him will generally continue not to like him. So I think it's good for us to remember that we don't have to narrow our focus to one person just because some anonymous source said so, and that we're not really here to vote "yes" or "no" on specific people in any event, but to talk about what our larger conception of the Bond series is and why we feel that way.

It just came to me that Heath Ledger could be a strong possibility for the 28 year old Bond, Paul Haggis mentioned. At the moment, he is 26, 6'1" and his career is in a position where Bond would certainly give it a major boost. I'm sure Eon and Campbell could easily mold him into James Bond. There are some pretty convincing pictures of him on the net and everytime I watch the patriot with a date, or a girlfriend, they always seems to find him gorgeous or hot. I have a really good Bond-like picture to attach and hopefully it works.

I forgot to mention that there was some report not too long ago that said an Australian actor had landed the part and that it wasn't O'Lachlan. It's totally possible that Ledger could be the one. Personally, he's not my first choice, but he is certainly in a great position to be James Bond. Check his bio out on IMDB. You'll see what I mean about his career needing Bond.

I just went to a Cavill website, and man!! he looks way too young, not like a 22 year old guy at all, forget about the picture posted on the news page here, he looks like a teenager, just live Christen Hayden looked in Episode II, here are some pics:

I'd rather they cast someone older to play younger (just not a 54 year old dude to play a 35 year old Bond :) ). Cavill seems like he needs more years on him to be Bond, at any (reasonable) age. Craig plays so youthful, I can see him pulling this off.

The frustrating thing about Henry Cavill is that there seems to be a lack of recent work and photos to judge him by. Consequently, people visit his fan site, which hasn't had much in the way of updates for ages, and come back with photos which are old. Similarly, fans watch The Count Of Monte Christo and I Capture The Castle and then have kittens, not realising that these films feature the teenage Cavill playing teenage roles. I understand that even his part in the recently released Hellraiser: Hellworld was filmed some years ago.

Should Cavill get Bond he will turn 23 while filming. I find it unlikely that he will have matured enough by then to play the worldly Bond. However, can any of us say this for certain, and has he been too easily dismissed by fans based on gut reaction rather than hard evidence?

Having seen Henry Cavill in the two films I mentioned, I can report he has a level of handsomeness consistent with previous screen Bonds. Inevitably, some will think his looks not right for Bond, but there is unlikely to be an ongoing debate about his attractiveness, as there is with Craig.

The main problem is that he is probably too fresh faced, and he is definitely too fresh faced in the old pics that fans keep posting.

Of the serious names that have been mentioned so far, the only ones I see having the combo of looks and talent to pull it off in this age range are; Henry Cavill, Rikki Lee Travolta, and Christian Bale. Bale is obligated to the Batman films and I doubt would be cast as two icon characters. That would put it down to Cavill and Travolta. Of them Cavill is a bit too young and Travolta is a bit too pretty so it's kind of a toss up. I think in the end they'll stick with the going youngER idea but not be married to a 28 year old, ending up with someone like Julian McMahon.
