Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations
"You know how Bond movies always start with 007 ending a previous mission? Oh yeah, that's cool," says Anthony Bourdain as clips of him skiing down the slopes of New Jersey in the previous episode lead into his next trip. Vietnam. The show is a great blend of locations, foods, adventure, human interactions, and humor. Bourdain dives into every opportunity presented to him and enjoys cracking witticims throughout each episode, almost always making a number of movie references in each trip that corresponds with the location. The Vietnam episode aka "The Island of Mr. Sang" contained a number of references to James Bond, "I have to admit, I really do feel like I'm in a Bond movie, it feels like I'm about to visit the island of Dr. No."
Yeah he frequently throws in a Bond reference or two...in the India episode he visited the floating palace and mentioned it as being in "Octopussy, that classic of the Roger Moore era"

I'm following your Bourdain threads dinovelvet

I think Bond would be a fan of Bourdain in a way.. recently somebody asked him if he had plans to quit smoking.. he said something like "I've already given up so many bad habits, I have full intention of keeping the ones that are left"

He is a younger, louche equivalent to British TV chef and Fleming-esque, Keith Floyd, who travelled around countries (Italy in an Aston Martin), meeting fellow gastronauts and being generally amusing.
Another good show:
Entourage - VERY VERY FUNNY

I love it when I start a *NEW* thread that was started a couple of years ago.

By the way, anyone else like the very cheesy 1970's Wonder Woman with Lynda Carter? I must admit, I do - bad acting - bad story lines and all.

A favorite of mine growing up, and now on DVD, was Sledge Hammer!. It was a spoof of the cop show genre and the Dirty Harry movies. It was only on for two seasons, but it was great.
