Hi guys and girls,

I need some feedback on whether any of you would listen to a CBN Radio Station...if there was one.

The station would only play Bond related audio including fan mixes!

Please post your comments here.

Thanks

There's a website where you can host your own Radio broadcast for free, cant remember the site though...

Seeing this issue is still being thought about. I have to ask, why content would people like to hear played on this?

Personally, I'd like to hear unsigned bands with their own Bond songs, remixes, fan remixes, and a few news tracks.

Well, from what I've researched, it would basically be a 24 hour broadcast - with tracks being randomly played.

I've been looking for a site that offers what we want such as http://www.shoutcast.com - however, I can't find anywhere on the site about music rights. The issue of music roghts is the only thing holding CBN back from having an online radio station.

The reason why the idea has come about is because I'm getting a Broadband ADSL line installed at my house (yippee!) provided by BT (*moans*).

If anyone could find out some details on the issue of music rights for me, I'd be very grateful.

I've got Winamp, and am connected via broadband cable. I listen to netradio very often via the WindowsMedia.com Radio Tuner.

I'd listen in, for sure. You could call it:

"CBN RADIO.... CALLING "
(Sorry, the letters slip my memory).

Would it be a 24-hour broadcast with repeat programming, or would you prefer selected GMT times to broadcast in one or two hour repeated bursts per day?

It would be a bit ambitious to try for 24 hours right away.

Great to hear your feedback.

The idea is not in development.

How many of you have a connection other than a 56K modem.

Also, how many of you have Nullsoft Winamp?

The only other radio call signs I can think of off the top of my head is:

Zero Zero - YOLT
&
White Knight - TND

It's been an idea I've been toying with.

What I'd like to do is get interviews and some other stuff. I just wouldn't want your ever day stuff.

And a little advert here or there advertsing CB.Net.

I wouldn't want just music.

Maybe if you had copyright access to every interview you could lay your hands on as well, then it would certainly be of interest.

As the previous fella said, there's only so many times you can listen to the Bond theme.

Good luck tho'.

I'd certainly give it a shot. However, I would be afraid that some day the Bond theme (and all its variants) would cloy.

We're tossing around with the costs still. Costs are high you see and it tall depends on how much we want to spend. Bascially the more songs we offer the more it costs us. And I think one rought estimate was around US$50 a month.

So it's up in the air.

Personally, if it goes ahead, I'd say expect it in December or January. Because right now we're getting busy with a redesign to the site due December 1. Some of it's already done but we're trying to get a lot more graphics around the site. And personally, I'm also working on a very unique and exclusive area for the site.

The name is still being decided. And yes there would be CBn jingles inbetween. We're finding a lady to work on them as I write this :) There may also be a male voice! Hey I'm giving away more than EON! :)

I still reckon you should use the Strangways/MI6 radio call signs in there somewhere.

It's the most noticable radio ralated segment I know in the Bond movies.

PS:...And in the books as well.

I'll definitely listen in!

But "CBN Radio" sounds a bit networky. What are you planning to call it, Dave?

Or is it all a surprise?

Do we have more people interested in listening to the radio station?

If we get a good response from some more visitors, then we could have this set up by this Wednesday!

That's for CBN to pay - so we'll still be relying on visitor donations! That is the only way we'll be able to run this thing.

For info on how to donate, please go to:

http://www.commander...n=Story&SID=574

Can I stress that all the funds will go towards improving the web site for all.

Just a question Dave. That $4 monthly fee. Is that a subscription fee for CBn to pay or is that for the listener to pay?

OK, here's the story so far;

It looks like we've found a site that'll provide us with the service we want. Live365 pay for royalties etc through licenses they hold.

When we set up an internet radio station, we'll have to pay $19.90 one off set up fee. With this we get 100mb free storage and the ability to play a looped playlist of songs.

There's a monthly fee however of around $4 which isn't too bad. However, we'll need your support to keep the station running. We'll notify you when we require any help such as donations to keep it running.

The legal information states that we can only play 3 tracks from the same artist every 3 hours. This means that only 3 David Arnold tracks can be played in 3 hours. This complies with royalites etc and the Millennium Internet Broadcasting agreement.

Inbetween, this means, we'll be playing mainly title songs from the films (as they are performed by different artists), fan mixes and alternative title tracks.

As we'll need to pay for this service, can I ask, will people definetly listen to the station? It's not just going to be a one off, people listen to it, and then forget about it?

We really need your support if we're to set it up.

Please leave your thoughts here.
