I still think this is the best game of James Bond. No good characters, nor the graphics, but it is the best! After this there were just one good game, and it was TWINE. No more N64 - no more good games.

What about you guys?

Welcome to CBn double-o-snake!

I totally agree with you.

Goldeneye 64 was the best game ever. It had everything. It's outdated totally now in terms of graphics and voices! But it is excellent.

It kept as true to the film as possible, while still making good fun out of the "in-between" parts that filled in the gaps.

Someone get Rare back developing!

Not only is this the best Bond game, it's the best by far.

Only LTK on the Amiga comes close...and that's purely for cheap fun value.

The crap they come out with these days is a disgrace, matching the film series in degredation.

I picked up GoldenEye 64 a few months ago after not having played it for years, and I must say that time really does make things better than they really are. There's no denying it's an amazing game and still extremely fun, but the graphics were awful.

In my mind, I remembered graphics that were fluid, amazing locations, and top notch voice acting.

...it had none of those things. :)

Hey, it worked for the time it came out. Still works in it's own way today. :)

Oh definitely. It's a remarkable game, and still hugely fun. It just wasn't the way I remembered it. :)

Yeah, good point. I'm kind of amazed how much time has passed by since it first came out and it's lasting popularity.

If EA want to do anything, they should remake Goldeneye exactly as the game originally was, but just improve graphics, add voice acting and perhaps update the AI. Nothing more.

I wonder if they could even pull that off without the urge to mess it up somehow.

You don't want it completely the same otherwise it would be hoe THe Twin Snakes was to Metal Gear Solid.

Casino Royale was a big selling book.

Dr No was a big hit at the box office.

Goldeneye was the biggest hit on a games platform.

It's too bad Rare is now part of Microsoft. That, and most of the developers of Goldeneye 64 now work for Free Radicals, who make the Timesplitters games.

Maybe that's what EA should do for the next Bond game: Get Free Radicals to make it! I mean, hell, if Goldeneye 64 is still a fan favorite after all these years, think of how the next Bond game would be.

IGN's Top 100 Games of All Time has GE64 (the only Bond game listed) coming in at #19.

IGN Readers' Top 99 Games of All Time also only lists GE64, at #13.

Not bad listings, but I actually would have thought even a little bit higher. Still, it's the most deserving Bond game to be on there.

While it's great to see GE64 on those lists, some of the other games mentioned are laughable. Halo 1 and 2 at #18 and 19? Those sound like their ranks for "99 Most Overrated Games."

I busted out my N64 (covered in about a foot of dust) and played GoldenEye. I still remember the correct tiles to step on in the golden gun room in Egyptian. A classic game.

I remember the gunbarrel opening........the sound of the AK47 and RPC90.....the ALL BONDS cheat.....the hours of non-stop finger blistering fun.

I used to throw about a hundred mines on the walls and watch the whole place go ka-boooom! Sheer joy. Those where the days....

Until your mines mysteriously disappeared :) I used to do that too. Infinite ammo and tons upon tons of mines.

Yeah. I'd also have fun with the Golden Gun and really annoy my younger cousin whilst playing 2 player.

Baron Samedi was fun to kill....

I agree. Goldeneye is the best Bond game ever... It was made in 1996 and it still being the best one.

I play it all the time. Never it's the same, always something different happends.

In Argentina there is a big fans club of this game.

Regards!!

It does indeed. My brother still has an N64, GE, and four controllers. Every time I visit him we scrape enough people together to have a big four player battle. It's fantastic.

I dug out my old N64 the other night and I've really been getting back into Goldeneye 64. I played it with my 11 year old step-son (also a big Bond fan, thanx to me).
Not only is it the best out of all the Bond games, I think it's the best game. Ever. In history. And while my kid noticed it's a little primitive compared to today's standards, he couldn't deny the majesty of it's stunning gameplay.

I love this game, and still have fun with friends in multi-player mode. The other Bond games 'aint got nuthin' on it!
