Some ones that are cool that may not have been mentioned...

Tomorow Never Dies
- The guy who falls into the newspaper machine. A short fight, but you have to laugh at the guy's mad face when Bond dares to kick him.
- Stamper's dialogue is great when he fights Bond at the end. Pure cheese, but it's fab.

The Spy who loved me
- Bond kicks the [censored] of Anya's goons near the pyramids, then casually walks off into the night. Stylish.

A View to a kill
Bond succeeds where Tibbit fails, and just check out the mad expression of that big guy in the warehouse as he menacingly approaches our hero ("Don't worry. It's all wrapped up"). Funny as.

This is one of the worst fights ever. It just looks fake. The guy just lies down on the conveyer belt - hardly plausible. I grimace whenever I see this scene.

I agree it's a poor fight, but it's so bad it's actually funny. I like it.

Bond vs. Grant fight takes the cake.

And eats it with a fat lip and busted jaw, as well.

GoldenEye's fight sequence between James Bond and Alec Trevelyan on the satilite dish easily comes in first place for me. The directors of GoldenEye even said that part of the fight scene was inspired by the train tussle in From Russia With Love. However, I prefer the fight scene from GoldenEye because fighting on a satilite dish suspended above the air has a much more dangerous edge than fighting on a moving train. Although both fight scenes, I must say, are spectacular with action. :)

View Post

I'm not sure I agree. As well done the GE dish fight was, the train fight could have happened in the real world, therefore more thrilling.

View Post

Well, both really could have been done in the real world. After all, both locations exist. Why couldn't the satilite dish fight occur in real life?

DAD - the best sword fight ever ,very thrilling .

Maybe for a Bond movie. But for "the best sword fight ever" check out the end of "Rob Roy."

Yeah I'd agree with that. The DAD sword sequence was good, but didn't have those nicely placed pauses that the one in Rob Roy did. The latter felt more real, somehow.

The sword fight was a definite highlight for Die Another Day. It was great to see a fight scene with a bit of difference from others.

Sean era:
With Grant in FRWL-DEFINITIVE!
with Alf Joint, and then Oddjob in GF
with Boitier in TB
and of course Peter Franks.
Laz era:
Hotel room..excellent.
Clearly the Sean films mastered the one on one fight. The Roger films probably mastered the three on one fight to make Rog look tougher.
Of his films, though, Sander in TSWLM is my favourite.
Tim era:
none...though the jailbreak is my prefered fight. Necros' is quite spectacular, though.
PB era:
I guess the one with Sean Bean.

Just watched Die Another Day tonight and I think it may be one of the best sequences in some of the Brosnan films. It never seems to become boring or overdone, and it's a fastpaced action scene that doesn't stop 'til the end. :)

Bond versus Jaws - Gondola fight in Moonraker.

It's a somewhat fun battle, although some may disagree. Besides, anything with a gondola is fun to me.

I've listed these before, but the Bond vs. Grant fight tops my list. It is SO gloriously brutal for a film in 1963. I get to that scene every time and get shocked by the time in which it was produced over and over. My favorite highlight is where Bond just STOMPS on Grant's back, then kicks him in the face. I almost jump out of my seat cheering.

Next, the Bond/Trevelyan fight. It just rocks. It is also brutal, realistic, and just hardcore. Why in the world has Bond not fought anyone like that since GE? Maybe it's just to play up the intense hatred between 007 & 006. All I can say is, I want THAT Bond, from THAT scene, in Casino Royale.

In an unlikely shocker, I loved the short fight in Tracy's hotel room. It was really good and intense and I actually enjoyed the primitive fast fight cuts. HARD blows traded really fast. It makes it easy to see how Laz got cast after a fight test.

There are honorable moments of the Thunderball underwater brawl as well. The harpoon through the goggles is the peak.

Also, I just gotta give a mention for the VERY short moment in GE with the yacht boy. There is NO WAY that anyone disliked that little moment. The towel flip is just priceless.

And by the way, ZERO music is used in almost all of what I've mentioned. Hint, hint, David.

That's all I got.

My top three would be:

1-Grant in the train

2-When Bond punches the "widow" of Jacques Derval

3-Peter Franks in the elevator.

Connery had a great sense of "fisticuffs". In the real world, close quarters combat experience and balls pays off much more than the "belt of many colours" one gains prancing about in a dojo. I mean no offense, I have "pranced about" myself in various dojos around the world. Anyway, Connery had a dangerous edge that only Brosnon has come close to mimicking.

The DAD sword fight was great, reminded me of Rob Roy and Pirates, but what always strikes me about the Flemming novels and Connery was that they all seemed so plausible. All of the fancy stuff you see today is just for the movies, eg. purely spectacle.

I'd have to say the fight in the train in From Russia With Love is by far the best, folowed up by the elevator fight in Diamonds are Forever, and then the brawl between old friends in GoldenEye, tops the lis.

I still think it would be cool if the final sceen in a Bond film would be a massive, brutal, bloody, mano-e-mano, melee showdonw between him and the villain where Bond get the crap beat out of him, then throws the villain off someting very high. [mutters "Waterfall"]

And there would be no music, only sound effects muffled by a loud noise. [mutters "Waterfall"] :)

I agree with Frankie's three, but have to give honorable mention to the scene in YOLT where Bond beats a guy unconscious with a couch -- Sean's the only Bond I could picture doing that in real life;P.

I also quite like a lot of the hand-to-hand stuff at the end of FYEO. I thought Roger looked really convincing in those scenes. The jail fight in TLD is pretty good too.

1) GoldenEye dish. Why? Because it actually looks like 2 seasoned agents going at it with intent to kill. Not 'for England' but for bitter revenge. It's great stuff.

2) The Living Daylights cargo plane. Why? Well, it's a decent 'high risk' fight with my fave Bond in it. What else is there? :)

3) On Her Majesty's Secret Service pre title beach. Why? Well, it's still in the realm of swingy armed sillyness, but the score, editing and direction coupled with location and reason to fight make it a worthy battle.

4) From Russia With Love train cab. Why? Well what is there to say that hasn't been said. Old man.

5) Tomorrow Never Dies soundproof room. Why? It's always amusing to see Mr Brosnan getting beaten up*. Haha.

Honourable mention: The Living Daylights kitchen. Why? Green4 and Necros give it a fairly beliveable scrap in an interesting location using the setting in a realistic manner to imobilise each other.

*Only joking of course!**

**Not really. Haha.
