I just hope they make James Bond 007: Live And Let Die before Roger Moore gets any older.

Surprising news, to say the least. But could this be interpreted as sticking two fingers up at Eon, as Connery did before with NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN? Is Eon anything to do with this game? Do Broccoli and Wilson stand to make money from it? (Presumably, yes and yes - in which case the "Connery flipping Eon the bird again by doing another rogue Bond performance" argument doesn't hold water for a single second; okay, scratch that.)
[mra]I doubt it was ever Babs and Mickey that Sean wanted to flip the bird toward, rather it was Harry and Cub. Eon does have a say in the games, but it

Wouldn't go that far.I agree...Casino Royale feels pretty anticlimactic at this point!
But I must. Until they convince me otherwise, Sean Connery as 007 beats The Bond Ultimatum any day.
It is interesting... I wonder if this news will effect how Eon might position their Bond #6 announcement this year. Not only is the "new guy" going to suffer in Pierce's shadow, but now we have Connery as Bond in 2005. Interesting...

This is actually a good point. If FRWL is a huge seller (and I don't see why it wouldn't be- especially considering EON's success), it could potentially open up a whole new sub-genre of Bond games for them. (And a wealth of material to mine.) They could release a series of 'classic' titles featuring voicework from Lazenby, Moore, or even Dalton. (Or Connery again...in OHMSS, naturally!)
Of course, I'm not sure how much of this Eon would allow after they've chosen a new Bond. But if big money were involved, I'm sure they could slap a little label on the games to keep them separate from their 'main' Bond games- much they way they did with Goldeneye. Sure, it's more wishful thinking than anything else, but you can bet it's probably crossed a few minds by now.

Hey, maybe the new guy will be so good as to totally outdo Pierce as Bond.
Against VG Connery, I'm not sure.

Well, maybe, maybe not. Depends on who the new guy is. I doubt that the public at large will care about Brosnan's departure if they get a decent Bond 6. Get someone like Owen, and Brosnan's shadow won't be a problem. With all due respect, Brosnan wasn't Connery or Moore (the only two Bonds, says I, who really mattered - I'm not saying they were the only two good Bonds, but they were the only two iconic ones), and Bond survived when Connery and Moore stopped playing him,so.... Get someone like Bloom, on the other hand, and even I'll be screaming for the return of Brosnan.

This was exactly my thoughts when i heard that Connery was leanding his voice to FRWL VG. I think it's tremendous news. I personally would love to see a sub-genre of Classic bond titles made into computer games. I'm sure i'm not alone in my desires to play around Piz Gloria. Now that would be good!
I think there is a high chance that this might actually happen. There is no doubt that as soon as Bond 6 is announced and established, EON will be pushing EA to make a contemporary game with Bond 6's face in it, further establishing him as 007. But after that game there is certainly great potential for a re-visiting of Bond's past missions with the likeness and voice of the original actor. Fingers crossed boys and girls!

A sub-genre of classic Bond games would be sweet! I have my fingers crossed as well.

I think this was a done deal 1 year ago before even it has been talked. EA wanted to make a film-game and they asked Connery. Connery wanted his best film, and the best film in the series to be done: From Russia With Love. This was all planned.
Didn't think of the fact that this is Connery's favorite film.
An added incentive.

Well it is atleast for him, for A.Brocolli and I.Fleming. I think the game will be a all-Connery-films-in-a-game type game. I just hope they make OHMSS with Connery and erase Mr. Wooden forever from the series.

I would love a series of classic 007 games.. would have to buy every one of them, but as much as I love Connery as Bond, I do not want to see him in OHMSS.. that'z Laze'z Bond movie and I would like to play that game as good ole George.

I think it would be great to give a OHMSS game to Lazenby, he could replay the role and do everything right this time. Only question is: is the a trip down memory lane he would want to take?

I think this is the biggest Bond news of the last year. (Even bigger than Brosnan's exit.)
Now if only they would try a third remake of Thunderball starring Sean, with Shrublands a retirement home for agents...

I wonder who they are going to get to play Q in the video game? Don't really want to see Cleese in FRWL... know of any good impersonators for Desmond?
Good point. I think we'd all prefer Desmond's likeness. I just hope it's not that generic Q they used in AUF- he was kind've creepy!
