I voted for DAF and TLD. My personal favorite of the two is DAF. I can't explain why. Perhaps its that lounge feel that hangs over every track. Very subtle, but also tense and exciting in when needed.

I will also say that OHMSS has a very strong score.

I voted for On Her Majesty's Secret Service and The Living Daylights. OHMSS is my favourite Bond soundtrack and when of my top film scores ever. The main theme is one of the best 'action' themes ever and when it is played during the ski chase it's one of the best marriages of image and music ever in a film. We Have All The Time In The World is one of the best love songs ever and was the first dance at my wedding!. There's countless other great cues though, such as the brilliantly suspenseful Gumbolt's Safe, the thrilling fight music in This Happened To The Other Fella, the amazing Blofeld's Plot where for six or so minutes John Barry brilliantly underscores everything Bond is doing as he escapes from the cable car and discovers what is really going on in Piz Gloria.

I don't think Barry ever topped that, but The Living Daylights was a great score to finish off his career. I think the A-Ha song is quite poor, but the two Pretenders songs are great, and I love the way electronics and drum machines are used for some of the tracks, giving the music a fresh feel while still being obviously 'Bond' music.

I do enjoy David Arnold's scores, but he does sometimes overdo things, such as the use of the Bond theme, and I think sometimes has too much music!

Without a doubt, Thunderball. It simply has the best themes ever. Although I've reeeeeeeally been listening to the Casino Royale OST a lot. Bought the expanded iTunes edition & my best friend was able to hunt down the actual CD for xmas (WTF was with Sony anyway? I never saw the CD in any CD or book/CD store anywhere!)

The CD single seems to be extremely difficult to locate in stores as well.

That one's a little more understandable, as it's technically not released in the U.S. It's my understanding that the U.K. pressing has been imported here & there. Personally, I'll just rip the audio from the DVD when it's released. Already paid for the iTunes release & the CD single has no other version on it.

The Living Daylights or You Only Live Twice... Both feature stellar, unique action and romance music while sounding absolutely Bondesque.

I'm Glad people are picking ones like FYEO, GoldenEye and License To Kill. I bought the FYEO soundtrack recently purely for the gunbarrel but ended up loving the rest of it because of the great disco feel. I've been searching all over for the gunbarrel cue/ JB theme of LTK because it's such a strong rendition and works great with Dalton as Bond. A favorite Gunbarrel. At First, I wasn't crazy about the goldeneye score, but it's really grown on me to be a favorite, just as the whole Mid-90s music scene has.
The Living Daylights was good, as mentioned before, the orchestra-synth made it memorable, but i would have liked more for a gunbarrel. maybe more of a beat thrown in there, to show that it was from the '80's?

Yeah, I'm with majority on OHMSS. Great soundtrack. The music is stunningly beautiful when it needs to be, and shockingly exciting just when the moment calls for it.

i don't get this OHMSS hype. Diamonds Are Forever is way better than On Her Majesty's Secret Service soundtrack. My favorite one is Conti's For you eyes only, but i like that those John Barry soundtracks are way better than David Arnold soundtracks. (and again, don't get me wrong, John Barry & Sean Connery are the original 007!)

Wow, seems I'm not one for bucking the trend. I went with

OHMSS-Just love the synth, LOVE it. And it's got IMO the best Gunbarrel music as well, for what it's worth.

TLD-A very contemporary score from Barry. As I've said elsewhere, I'd love to have seen where he would taken it from there.

I am right with you as far as the top 2, just in reverse. To me TLD is a richer and more complex soundtrack that uses the 4 themes, (Bond, Where has Everybody Gone, TLD and If There was a Man) to great effect. "Assasin and Drugged" is the best example of this mixing. OHMSS is a little more simplistic but has what has to be the standout song of all time "Journey to Blofeld's Hideaway" Only some of his work in "Out of Africa" and "Dances with Wolves" tops it.

AS far as where Barry would have gone from TLD, I think some of the music in "Dances With Wolves" evokes a Bondian feel and could have been used very nicely in Goldeneye, such as the Pawnee Attack music and the film opening music when Kevin Costner rides between the Union and Confederate lines

I chose the latest one. It's come under criticism for overpowering the action onscreen at times, but I never found it so. It's perfect for listening on your iPod and running through the streets, and has a clear mood. I really liked the theme song and the soundtrack captures it perfectly. There is a gentleness too I hadn't heard since Octopussy. I'll have to listen to Living Daylights again but I HATED the Dalton themes!
It's important to remember 'though that this is a poll on soundtracks and not themes; how well does OHMSS sustain the whole of the film? That earlier comment about the cheesy Christmas music is a case in point (although again I think it acts to lessen the tension).

I like the GoldenEye 007 soundtrack also. Love those deep, echoing industrial bells spliced in there and the windy hissing.

Kind of surprising that this is still the case per Never Say Never Again. Even if it's certainly not an overall favourite among fans, it seems that every option in these polls gets chosen given the diversity among these forums.

The best soundtrack is Burt Bacharach's Casino Royale '67, for it's fantastic sixties Jazz tunes, and introducing The Look of Love to the world... But let's play officially here...

A Soundtrack can be the best score without having the best music. Live and Let Die, Tomorrow Never Dies and Casino Royale '06 all have fantastic scores that really fit the action, but you wouldn't neccessarily want to listen to the album that often. On Her Majesty's Secret Service, though almost as good as these, doesn't quite have the same effect, but is easily the best collection of music from the entire official series. Likewise, the music from Goldeneye isn't bad, it's just the fact that it doesn't fit an exciting chase sequence.

Overall, I find Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Casino Royale '67 and Tomorrow Never Dies to be soundtracks which hugely benefit the films they score, making them better films than they rightfully should have been, whereas Never Say Never Again and Goldeneye adversely affect the films they score, making the films worse than they should have been.

Not surprised at the poor showing of Dr. No which has dated itself considerably (I tried listening to it while reading the book which hardly put me into the appropriate frame of mind) and which is certainly the least Bond-like. Goldeneye always impressed me with the atmosphere- eerie with a touch of menace while maintaining its Russian coolness. And what a theme song!
