Did Gardner ever send Bond to a fast food resturant? Seems to me the kind of thing that would show up in a Gardner book. Gardner sent him to Disneyland afterall. :)

Not sure, but yes I could see Bond in a McDonalds in a Gardner novel. After all, Gardner's villains are so outlandish it would feasible to see Bond's foe Ronald McDonald!

Because maybe then they would start making bond Lego sets. Besides I don't think anyone can convince a bond author to send him to a fast food restaurant.

But would that work in the film though, just for the marketing reason to increase popularity for a product idea?

oo7 would go to Long John Silvers and order the red mt dew and fish, and wonder why that shouldn't have told him something.

Well, he said "Benson should do it", so I guess he meant in a book.

Of course, Benson would then quickly be sued for using the James Bond character without permission :)

Right, zen. I can picture it:

"You know, the first time I went to McDonald's, I didn't think I was going to like it." Bond thought he might put the man at ease by telling him the truth. "Funny, I went with a girlfriend and we didn't even have to book. I thought the whole thing would be tasteless, tawdry, and a bit phony. In the end we made our way through the entire menu. The great thing about McDonald's is that it works."

To answer the original question of this thread, "If James Bond ate at a fast food restaurant, what would he think?"

Hard to say what exactly he'd think, beyond being far from impressed.

But I'd say he'd look something like Sean Connery in "Diamonds Are Forever".

Just remembered - Diamonds are Forever, Bond and Leiter stop at a diner on the way to Saratoga. The experience is described with contempt. Chapter 10.

While not exactly fast food restaurants, I think there were a couple of instances where Bond went to greasy spoon diners, or at least places that weren't 5-star quality, for meals in the Gardners.

I think the first was when he was travelling to the Bismaquer rance in For Special Services, and I believe he also ate at a steakhouse in Cold Fall before he went up against Brutus Clay.

At the very least, in comparison, at least the Disneyland bit was handled pretty well, considering what could have happened.
