Where's Loomis?! Get him here!
Sorry I'm late, I got chucked out of a plane without a parachute.

Here's a post I made a while back on this subject:
Was dragged to see SPIDEY 2 last night - hadn't planned on seeing it, but to my surprise enjoyed it tremendously. Great work from Tobey Maguire and Alfred Molina, and the train sequence is stunning.
Another pleasant surprise occurred when the two ladies in our party stopped in front of a cardboard stand thingy in the foyer advertising KING ARTHUR and (totally unprompted by yours truly) started oohing and aahing over Clive Owen.
Yep, you read that correctly. THEY STARTED OOHING AND AAHING OVER CLIVE OWEN.
"That guy's gorgeous," one of them said. At first I assumed she was talking about Ioan Gruffudd, but she then said: "I saw him in, what was that film called? CROUPIER. Really gorgeous."
"He's really fit*," the other agreed.
"Are you serious?" I asked, remembering the many uncomplimentary things I've read (and, indeed, written myself) on CBn re: Owen's looks.
"Yes," they replied, "he's gorgeous."
I informed them that Owen was possibly going to replace Brosnan as Bond. "Good choice," they said.
So there we have it, folks: Clive Owen does have what it takes to charm female viewers as 007.

*In Britain, "fit" can mean "sexually attractive" as well as "physically healthy", etc.

But I think he could bring a certain menace to the role of Bond... which could be very sexy.
I dunno.

You've got far more sex appeal than Owen could ever dream of in Matt and I's opinion.
Just sayin'

*blows kisses*
*Goes to bank to deposit check from Joyce*

Owen certainly has an edge and the grittiness to be Bond in the true sprit of Fleming, but hey, he's said "I don't want to be Bond" - Can't make someone do what they don't want.
I'll settle for watching "Croupier" to meet any need of Owen as a pseudo 007.
Damn good film.

Well, of course they think he's gorgeous or else they wouldn't have bothered with 'King Arthur'. Most of the people I saw the film with didn't even know Clive Owen, let alone see 'Croupier'. I'm sorry, but just because two Owen fans think he's gorgeous, doesn't mean he has what it takes. Personally, I could learn to like him, but stand by to what I said earlier; Owen looks too ordinary.
Well, I believe only one of them went on to see KING ARTHUR, and she thought it was terrible. I wouldn't call them "Owen fans" (in fact I don't think they even knew Owen's name when they clapped eyes on that KA ad in that cinema foyer), merely people who've seen Owen and thought: he looks darn good.

Surprised by the number of girls I know who have his picture as a buddy icon or whatnot. And you're spot on to that point, they like the face, but do not have the slightest idea who he actually is.
"Clive Owen fan?
-Who?
-King Arthur, your buddy icon...
-Oh, not really, I just think he's hot"
He appeals to the teenage crowd of girls apparently. That's what Eon wants, right?

Yes you can.
Picture this:
MICHAEL G. WILSON: Okay, Clive, we've come up with a figure: $2 million.
CLIVE OWEN: You're having a laugh.
WILSON: $2.5 million, then.
OWEN: I've told you: I don't want to be Bond.
BARBARA BROCCOLI: But Bond fans the world over speak of you as a potential 007.
OWEN: Those are rumours. I deal in facts.
WILSON: $3 million, Clive. That's our final offer.
OWEN: Don't you have somewhere to be?
BROCCOLI: Crikey, you drive a hard bargain. $5 million.
OWEN: Get out of my house.
BROCCOLI: $10 million.
OWEN: I don't want to play Bond.
WILSON: $15 million, then. That's about what Pierce got for DIE ANOTHER DAY. We can't really go any higher, Clive.
OWEN: You heard.
WILSON: Okay, $20 million.
OWEN: Send the contract round tomorrow then.

What I do know is that Owen's Bond would be a mix of Dalton, Connery, and a touch of Brosnan's style. That is sexy enough for me.

I wouldn't mind seeing him as more charismatic or so, but I think a darker styled Bond could fit him well.

All I know is Clive Owen is no Pierce Brosnan, looks and charisma wise. When it came to Pierce: women wanted him and men, of course, wanted to be him. I don't think men want to be Clive Owen or women want him...
I want to be Clive Owen

Firstly, I am a guy. Secondly, I happened to see him on Oprah last week and when he came out on stage, man did those women in the audience go nuts. I was actually very surprised. And he actually has a lot of charisma too. He reminded me a lot of Sean Connery in the way he presented himself. He is very calm, collected and a very pleasent speaker despite his deep voice.
Thats quite suprising. Why was he on?

He could become a "Pierce Brosnan" though. Much to fans liking or disliking I'd bet.

Personally, I'd rather be Sean Connery. Then again, Pierce often sounds like he wants to be, too.

Of the previous Bonds,I have found Connery and Dalton by far the most attractive.Brosnan and Moore were always too pretty for me and I have always been indifferent to Lazenby.I obviously go for the dark,'worn in'look,so Owen should fit the bill but he is just missing something.Couldn't imagine myself falling for him if he walked into the room.

I think Owen's look is fine. If you want to go back to Fleming, James Bond was not the drop-dead gorgeous male model we get in the films. He was described as a good-looking man, but not pretty. He is compared with Hoagy Carmichael. I've seen Hoagy Carmichael, who I don't consider a very good-looking guy.
If this Closer film comes out, I think it may raise his profile with some women. The thing with Brosnan is he is very handsome, which will be hard to follow up on in that respect. I got a TND poster for Christmas once and all my wife could talk about was how good looking he was. Fine, but Bond is about more than looks.
Like Roger Moore says, Bond should not be somebody everybody knows when he walks into a room. A handsome but not too handsome guy would be the answer and Owen fits the bill nicely. Everything else seems like it would fill into place from there.
