If it gets made, I'll go see it.
I will too. I liked the first one (more than Brosnan's Bond films), but I'm certainly not going to hold my breath for the sequel (unfortunately its kinda like the supposed new Saint series)

Heck, I'm definitely in. The first film was wonderful. Lump me in with the group that thinks Brosnan was a decent Bond, but honestly for me many of his other movies are much better than his 007 films. (I'm very much looking forward to the The Ghost Writer this weekend.)
It's a shame the producers/studio will bag Rene Russo as the lead lady and go with a younger actress. She's got beauty and sophistication in spades. Think they can cast a 27-year old who's going to have that much game?

I'm in the club also! I liked the first film a lot and I think that the second will be in the same tone. I believe though that Brosnan will be a little too old to play a playboy!

5. It is the sequel to a film that is 11 years old - remember "THE TWO JAKES"?
4. "THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR" starred an actor who was a very popular James Bond at that time. Now this actor is just not a box office draw anymore.
3. Heist movies have been done to death. The "OCEAN´S"-trilogy has kind of swept the marketplace.
2. A mainstream thriller that is stuck in development hell for so long that the lead actor is now in his 50´s won´t get made these days, simply because lead actors have to appeal to the kids. It only would be possible if the studio wanted to re-boot everything with Taylor Lautner.
1. It´s MGM, dammit.

Top Five reasons why THE TOPKAPI AFFAIR won´t be greenlit:
5. It is the sequel to a film that is 11 years old - remember "THE TWO JAKES"?
And THE TWO JAKES was a sequel to a film people remembered and cared about. So were many other sequels made after long hiatuses (good or bad, successful or not) like PSYCHO II, THE EVENING STAR, ROCKY BALBOA. Do people really care about THOMAS CROWN V.2 some 11 years after it came out? Enjoyed it when they saw it, sure. Watch it on TV when it's on and they've got nothing better to do? Why not. Have it it their collection? Maybe somewhere at the back. But care enough to see a sequel all these years later? I doubt it.
Still, GET SHORTY wasn't exactly a household name when the feeble BE COOL did OK business in theatres a few years ago, so who knows? It's possible.
