I imagine if ROTS is a real hit at the Box Office, and gets decent reviews, we might see them in theatres.
If it flops horribly, they'll be a tv show.

In an interview published in 1992, George Lucas said that he was burned-out on Star Wars and that he did not plan to make prequels or sequels to the original trilogy. I don't know if Lucas was being entirely truthful at the time or if he later changed his mind about re-mastering/updating the original trilogy and making the prequels. So I take Lucas' comments about Episodes 7,8, and 9 and his future plans with a grain of salt.
Certainly, Lucas would be pestered for details if he suggested that he was making Episodes 7,8, and 9. Far better to end the discussion at this point by saying that there aren't going to be any future Star Wars movies. if Lucas isn't prepared to announce his thoughts or plans.
I partially agree with Loomis that we look at the original trilogy through rose-colored glasses. But I also believe that the original trilogy are much better films than the prequels.
I also believe that the authors and artists who have contributed to the Expanded Universe may be more clever and talented than Lucas and perhaps this is an explanation of why I find the prequels so disappointing. For example, the LucasArts games I have enjoyed over the years are much better than the prequels.
