He's currently in Nip/Tuck on Channel 4 (UK)

Not seen anything else he's done.

He is male, 6ft and black hair, so fits the criteria for all the other rumoured names. :)

I'll just toss this one on the pile with those other so-called reliable rumours, I think.

His name was bandied about a few weeks back in a promotional story that ran just about everywhere. I doubt this extends beyond that. Brace yourself for another false Bana-esque media blowout.

It is interesting the sheer volume of Australians who are being linked with the role.

Might be a result of Michael Madsen's earlier coment that they hired a young unknown Australian.

How many "young unknown Australians" do we have on this board alone? .... Good. Out of the door. Line on the left. One rumour each. :)

Then I rather take Adrian Paul than him. UGH!

Not a James Bond

As a huge fan of Nip/Tuck and having watched him on Charmed, I can vouch that Julian McMahon is a lot better contender than some of the people whose names have been tossed about recently.

McMahon has the look, is built and charming as hell. He has a huge female following and he is manly in Connery way. Maybe not the ideal candidate for Bond, but much more convincing than an Eric Bana.

Well, I agree he's better than Bana; but still, I'm hoping for Owen or Bale when the time comes.

No thanks, and this is almost certainly another dreamed up rumor.

His name was mentioned a little while ago, now it seems they're back again to take another shot at moving his name around. The rumors never stop.

I've watched him on Charmed. He's entertaining, but NO, he is not Bond.

Not with those eyebrows! :)

Check out Connery's eyebrows in Doctor No.

Anyway, said my piece back when this rumor surfaced about three/four weeks ago. Think McMahon would be a fine Bond. He carries himself well, can be charming one moment and cad the next. One thing about Bond you have to believe that he could kiss a woman one second and then kill her in the next second. That's a fine edge to walk, Connery had it, Brosnan to some lesser degree, Dalton definitely, Roger came up short however. McMahon, from his Nip/Tuck performance is right in sync with that. Very good actor, would be a fun a Bond.

As "Moriarty" over at ACIN started the whole Eric Bana debacle, I don't find him a credible source whatsoever. Here we go again. :)

Moriarty tells us that "somewhere in the world on this fine Tuesday morning, Julian McMahon is evidently sitting down with Barbara Broccoli to talk about the finer points of owning a license to kill."

Yes, evidently. How does Moriarty know this? Any well-connected CBners aware of a meeting today between Babs and McMahon and/or other actors? Or is this just a figure of speech on Moriarty's part, a way of painting a picture of a hunt for Bond #6 that's underway?

And why does Moriarty cover himself by stating something like "of course, none of this means that McMahon's got the part"?

I'm suddenly hostile over all this today. I think Moriarty is a tool and MGM is using all the Bond fansites as a free focus group -- floating names and seeing how we react.

Hey, MGM peepers! *middle finger* :)

If anyone wants me I'll be hanging with Kevin McClory.

Because some people who worship that site will forgive him. Anybody remember when they actually nailed stuff rather than tossing a bunch of rumours out there like that?

E! Online reports the same, including the meeting with Broccoli. The (female) reporter is very enthusiastic about the idea :-)

I feel much the same that I did about Bana, which is that he is capable of doing the role, but has some major issues to overcome. I do like McMahon better than Bana because I think he could play "suave" better. (It's interesting to note that he is the son of the former Prime Minister of Australia, so he should be plenty familiar with international intrigue already.) And I like him better than Purefoy, because at least McMahon wouldn't be dull; he is quite charismatic.

I could definitely accept it. However, there are other folks I like more. I am not getting why it has to be an Australian.

I've never seen this guy in anything, but he's going to be in the Fantastic Four movie in 2005.

Anywho... what irks me about all these rumored Bond #6's (including this Julian McYaddaYadda) is that they do NOT have the bond look... facial wise (Jackman is the closest out of all the rumored men). ARH!

It's just where the focus has been lying often for these rumors.

And just look at the credibility of these rumors.

I've seen his name come up once or twice and I've seen him in different tv shows but I'm not impressed or convinced that he will be the next Bond.
Still he has a shot compared to other candidates he's unknown (and cheap) and younger, so maybe?
Or its just another rumour, probably

I would love for nothing less than McMahon playing James Bond. He has a great sense of danger, in the way Mankiewicz described Connery as a true bastard who can walk into a room, sleep with a girl, and kill her. At the same time, he can be very charming and disarming - so sure. I'd love to see him as Bond #6.

Speaking of Nip/Tuck, I had a TV Guide with Mr. McMahon on it, in a suit and holding a syringe(which from afar looks like a gun). He looked very Bond-like.

I will try to find the picture.

Hey, if they do Casino Royale, they could do a remake of the 1967 version. Each contender could be called "James Bond" then :)
