I too am surprised at the anti Kara postings.I always liked her character and thought she was stunning. I agree with Turn in that I prefer her character to the all singin',all dancin' ,all fightin' girls of late.Which is one reason I dont particulary like Pam Bouvier.
Kara was vunerable and I think Maryam D'Abo did a very good job with her. As for saying she is not attractive,I just dont see it ....but then I am looking at it from a different perspective from the guys

Actually,I dont like any of them because they got to kiss Tim and I didn't...which is very juvenile but .......

I know thats what she says in that scene but the subtitles arn't on my DVD version of The Living Daylights. I'm pretty sure they are on my VHS version. Is my DVD messed up or is it not supposed to have the subtitles.

Common Problem Chris:

When the films were put onto the DVD's, they forgot to put on the subtitles for many scenes, that being one of them. That is why you'll see it on VHS versions, but not the DVD.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. MGM really messed up there. I hate them.

No problem. One of the bigger mistakes yes, I guess it doesn't bother me a whole lot since I know most of the lines that should be there in any event.

Pam's whining made her more real. She was independent but not overly tough. This made her a little more girly. And she didn't fall for Bond that easily.

I can't stand Lupe. Talisa Soto's performance makes Tanya Roberts seem like an Oscar candidate in comparison. There is no edge to the character at all, she's just there. I didn't buy her being attractive, sext, coniving, deadly, anything. It seems Sanchez only keeps her around because of his need for power over everybody.

I didn't find her screaming "Bull---" to be girly. Overall she's fine, but things like that just detract from the class.

The exact word isn't the classy typical dialogue one would expect from a Bond film. It's what you expect from an 80's cop movie or whatever. It just wasn't a classy line, IMO.

I'm a guy and I find her attractive. I wouldn't say she is the most beautiful woman in the series(that honor would go to Solitaire with Fiona Volpe a close runnerup) but I find her cute in a girl-next-door kind of way. Also, I'm not one of these fans who insists every Bond girl be a Jinx clone. After all, Kara's not a spy but a cellist who spent her entire life in a Communist dictatorship so I wouldn't expect her to know how to handle weaponry or fly a plane. She's like an innocent character in a Hitchcock film thrown into a dangerous situation. I'd pick Kara anyday over Pam("I can't decide whether I'm Bruce Willis-in-drag or a whiny high school girl experiencing my first crush") Bouvier.

About the only thing that saves her [Maryam d'Abo] from being a total loss is the Playboy spread she did highlighting Bond's 25th anniversary (a few of you know what I'm talking about  ) at the time of TLD's release.

Lupe is by far my favorite. One of the sexiest Bond Girls ever. Actually she's the only thing I like about LTK
Pam is OK, but I don't find Kara attractive at all. I think it has a lot to do with her hairstyle , but I also don't like her personnality and her love affair with Bond.

Personally IMO, Lupe is the sexiest Dalton Bond girl, but Kara is the best. Lupe oozes sez appeal, and don't get me wrong, Kara is also sexy, but in a different kind of way.
