As many of you know, I hate Kara Milovy! She is ugly and acts as if she is mentally retarded. Either Maryam d'Abo is a very bad actress or the character was written bad. I think it is a combination of both.

As many of you know, I hate Kara Milovy! She is ugly and acts as if she is mentally retarded. Either Maryam d'Abo is a very bad actress or the character was written bad. I think it is a combination of both.

I wouldn't go so far as to call her ugly, but I agree she is hands down the least attractive main Bond girl of them all. About the only thing that saves her from being a total loss is the Playboy spread she did highlighting Bond's 25th anniversary (a few of you know what I'm talking about ) at the time of TLD's release.

I actually don't think the character is bad because her role develops through the course of the film. She goes from being somewhat the victim, an innocent pawn in the first half to making us wonder if she's trustworthy in the middle section for a while to being more confident and a stronger character by the time of the final battle. By then, she's willing to help aid Bond, riding a horse into battle with a shotgun in tow.

Sure she makes some silly mistakes in the plane, but most of us would have likely done the same thing in her case. In retrospect, it was a nice change of pace comapred to the Bond equals that have littered the screen since TSWLM.

When you think about it. Dalton did not have many girls in his films compared to Pierce. Pierce had Xenia, Natayla, Caroline, Inga Bergstrom, Paris and Wai Lin in his first two films. In this case I voted for Kara.

I know thats what she says in that scene but the subtitles arn't on my DVD version of The Living Daylights. I'm pretty sure they are on my VHS version. Is my DVD messed up or is it not supposed to have the subtitles.

Common Problem Chris:

When the films were put onto the DVD's, they forgot to put on the subtitles for many scenes, that being one of them. That is why you'll see it on VHS versions, but not the DVD.
