I said 'hello' to Richard Kiel at the BFI in (I think) 2003 when he attended a Q&A following a screening of Moonraker.
His interview was quite short and he said many of the things in Athena's interview. He seemed a very nice guy, genuine, grateful, subdued and pleasant. Jaws was never my favourite henchman, but Kiel was certainly an imposing figure, on screen and in real life. Like most big men, he came across as quite gentle. I have a vague memory he was on crutches.
Michael J. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli were also in the audience.
Nice guys like Richard don't often seem to make it in show business (or business full stop) so we should be thankful for this one.
