How about the Assassination squad...

Maybe that's why it's a deleted scene.BTW, what are people's views on the deleted Michael Jai White scene on the VOL 2 DVD? Personally, I think it's awful and doesn't work at all - I was expecting a monumentally brutal, awe-inspiring fight designed to show just how lethal Bill is (something along the lines of the scrap between The Bride and Vernita, in other words); however, the scene appears to have been played exclusively for laughs, and as a comic interlude just falls flat. And what's with White's accent? Is he supposed to be playing a Brit, or just someone who's been badly dubbed into English (a la those cheesy old Hong Kong martial arts flicks)?

For me, each character she fights tops the last one:Hmm, sorry about that Loomis, I should have been more clear.
How about the Assassination squad...
1. Bill - The best character in all of Kill Bill. Period.
2. Elle Driver - I love her to death. She is the girl who's always been in 2nd place and wants to get to be #1. Great stuff.
3. Budd - The man who knows what he's done and is willing to accept the consequences. A terrific performance by Madsen.
4. O-Ren Ishi - She's not the most developed character, but is a cool one to fight. The anime sequence is terrific, and her sword fight with the Bride is the most beautiful action sequence I've seen in a long time.
5. Vernita Green - Even less developed than O-Ren. I do like how she's just a normal mom and has moved on, but she doesn't really have anything that stands out about her.

While Vol. 1 is more eye-popping and inventive than Vol. 2, there's no disputing that the level of character development is infinitely better in Vol. 2.Nice choices. Seemed like Vol. 2 got the better of the bunch in your case then.

Actually, I might even be so bold to say that Bill is perhaps the coolest, most interesting character in any TARANTINO movie. He's incredibly unique; an archvillain who does not kill his underlings for failure, but instead offers them sympathy. He's also quite a capable father, interestingly enough, and can really be both vicious and charming.1. Bill - The best character in all of Kill Bill. Period.
Not to mention, how many guys out there do you know of who could play a flute and still be intimidating as all hell?
Whoever says that Tarantino can't come up with new and interesting characters should watch Volume 2 a few dozen times and think before answering again...

David Carradine was fantastic in the role, and brought such an incredible and outstanding level of charisma and charm to the character. He could go from a guy you're supposed to, by all conventions, hate, to the most charming mother-

Taratino has certainly proved that he has a knack for casting, not to mention giving a "second chance" to forgotten actors and giving them memorable roles (Travolta was good in Pulp Fiction - although, it would have been interesting to see Michael Madsen play the role, as initially planned - and Robert Forster was fantastic in Jackie Brown).

I greatly look forward to buying Vol. 2, even though both films are fantastic. While Vol. 1 is more eye-popping and inventive than Vol. 2, there's no disputing that the level of character development is infinitely better in Vol. 2.Nice choices. Yes, there will be a complete version, rated NC-17 and based off the Japanese cut. Tarantino already gave the complete version its debut at Cannes (I at least think it was Cannes. If it wasn' that it was some other film festival...).Does anyone know any confirmed details about further DVD releases for the Kill Bill films? Will there indeed be a "complete" version? I'm trying to hold out and save my money for the ultimate release, and am curious to see if anyone knows what the deal is on that...(damn college...)
I believe the entirety of the changes were actually to the end of Vol. 1 (it's a bit extended, and the revelation of the Bride's daughter is removed) and the beginning of Vol. 2 (the black-and-white opener is out). Other changes are just differences inherent to the Japanese cut. Those differences include The House of Blue Leaves fight being displayed in full gory color.

Well, when he originally submitted Kill Bill Vol. 1, they slapped it with NC-17 for violence. In order to get the rating down he towned down The House of Blue Leaves fight by making in B&W, and removed some of the shots of the Bride mutilating Sofie in the car trunk. That cut is the Japanese version, and that was his original vision. He'll be combining that cut with Vol. 2 to put together the complete epic.Mine too.

And a few people like Elle here, ONLY Daryl Hannah can still look damn sexy after having her head shoved into toilet water

It tugged at my heartstrings when he died too. For the entirety of Vol. 1 you think of him as an evil murderer, then Tarantino flips that conception on its head with Vol. 2. One of the most interesting characters ever to appear on film. And I was actually quite disappointed that Bill died, he seemed to redeem himself in those last few moments.

I want David Carradine to get an Oscar for Bill more than I want Uma to get an Oscar for Beatrix. But let's face it, both performances are Oscar-worthy.Just saw KB Vol. 2 again and it is just so godamn great! I want that Uma gets an Oscar for her gret performance as Beatrix.

Originally NC-17? That's not surprising, but I am amazed at the amount of films that originally get that rating and then tone the films down to insure a safer R rating. Eyes Wide Shut is another example.Well, when he originally submitted Kill Bill Vol. 1, they slapped it with NC-17 for violence. NC-17 generally equals junky box office receipts. It's always wise to tone it down for theatrical release, and then you can release your visionary cut later.Originally NC-17? That's not surprising, but I am amazed at the amount of films that originally get that rating and then tone the films down to insure a safer R rating. Eyes Wide Shut is another example.

Wait wait wait... so in this "director's cut" version will the B&W get turned back into Color. I really hope not! I thought the B&W was extremely artistic and I loved it. Noo... I'll miss the B&W if they change it, and I really believe itIn order to get the rating down he towned down The House of Blue Leaves fight by making in B&W....

I definately think that Carradine deserves an Oscar as Bill. As you pointed out, he goes from a character you think you're supposed to hate and be repulsed by...but in Volume 2, you suddenly see him from another perspective, and actually kinda want to see him and Beatrix walk off into the sunset together. Hell, even Beatrix realized this before he finally died!I want David Carradine to get an Oscar for Bill more than I want Uma to get an Oscar for Beatrix.

Yes, this would be nice. They should have a color option on the DVD. A simple idea, but one that could be effective.
