In the late 1970s/early 1980s the two biggest box office stars in the world were Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds....Eastwood of course went into directing more movies than starring in them....but Burt Reynolds disappeared for over a decade.
Naw, he played Boss Hog just this year! (I hear Oscar whispers from that one

He should have won an Oscar for Boogie Nights, which was released in '97.

He didn't disappear so much. He worked consistently, but time and the box office caught up with him. He did ridiculous low-budget action flicks like Heat (not the Pacino/De Niro one), Breaking In and Stick that couldn't compete with Lethal Weapons and Die Hards. He even co-starred in a bomb with Eastwood in '84 called City Heat.In the late 1970s/early 1980s the two biggest box office stars in the world were Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds....Eastwood of course went into directing more movies than starring in them....but Burt Reynolds disappeared for over a decade.
Then he starred in TV series like B.L. Stryker and Evening Shade in the late '80s abd early '90s. Then in the early, mid '90s he went through a messy divorce with Loni Anderson and his big comeback was the combination of Strip Tease with Demi Moore and Boogie Nights. He lost the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for the latter to sentimental favorite Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting.

Anyway, I just want to see a Rocky 6 no matter who is in it. I love those films. I watched the original one from 76' the other week and I nearly had tears in my eyes after the fight with Creed.

Stallone has been trying to make a sixth movie for years and has been reworking a script. The latest version, which sources said is similar to the tone and grit of the first two movies, persuaded the studios to negotiate a deal.
Even Sly's got the "back to basics" and "gritty" bug.

I hope they'll get the fight right. The one in ROCKY IV between Balboa and Drago is just ridiculous, the series' CGI ice surfing moment. The final fights in ROCKYs I and II are suitably brutal and exciting (and, crucially, suspenseful - how about another Rocky fight in which the outcome is actually in doubt?), as is the first one between Balboa and Clubber in III.
But, still, how will audiences buy the idea of any world heavyweight champion being prepared to unleash his full fury against a 60-year-old? Murder, surely?
It'll be difficult to pull off, but hopefully this film will be ROCKY V done right. I believe Stallone has been working on the script for quite a number of years, and I'm glad he's directing, too. I have a good feeling about this.

Note that I said "for over a decade" ie the mid to late 1980s to late 1990s

Looks like Bond will have some stiff competition next year from Messrs Balboa and Rambo. Stallone will own in 2006!
Superman,Bond and now Rocky...I'll really feel like a kid again in 2006!

I've bought enough of Stallone's InStone High Protein Pudding (French Vanilla flavor) to get a full producer's credit.
The pudding, by the way, is DEE-LISH!

Meantime, an insider (an agent) has managed to find the wish-list of directors that the studio hopes to coax into directing

He did Blade (I), and it was a great movie.
