Out of all the beautiful Bond girls in the world of Agent 007, Claudine Auger as Domino from Thunderball is by far the best, most gorgeous Bond girl I've ever seen. And she's French! Despite being dubbed in the film, Auger gives a unforgettable performance as Domino, the revenge seeking mistress of Emilio Largo.

I don't know why but I am so in love with Auger. There's something about her that makes me feel real. Don't you guys agree? She's hot! A perfect figure, wonderful... um...you know...large...um...hair? That's it! You know what I'm talking about *wink* *wink* :) . Anyway, post if you like Domino, or describe your favorite Bond girl, and how she makes your day worthwhile.

Domino :) .. Domino :) ... man I need a girlfriend. :)

Domino, along with Miranda Frost are my two favorite Bond girls of all.

To simply say it, Claudine Auger gives a stylised, superb, convincing and powerful performance, a definite highlight.

She will always be remembered by myself as one of the very best!

She's my #2 007 girl behind Carol Bouquet, another Frenchie! :)

Too bad Sophie Marcheau's character wasn't very appealing. She's nice on the eyes and ears...

I recommend you visit the thread by myself called "An appreciation of Rosamund Pike."

She's beautiful, stunning, and just terrific.

I think she was blandly attractive. Not bad looking buy not spectacular, something I expect to see in Bond girls. Sorry, but she was weak for me.I certainly wouldn't kick her out of bed though! :)

Claudine Auger as Domino is indeed the quintessential Bond Girl, IMO. Beautiful, alluring, with that hint of angst that really makes her lovable. She certainly does the bikini proud. Most of all, she had that 60's cool thing, in spades. Plus, she turned out to be pretty handy with a weapon.

Claudine Auger is my all time fave Bond girl, too. Utterly mezmorising screen presence. One thing that always bugs me though is this; When Bond and Domino are on the beach, she implies they have made love extremely recently to the scene. Why the hell couldn't we have some glimpses of that?!?!We get to see Bond and flamin' Grace Jones in bed together in AVTAK, but not Bond and Auger. Arghhhh!

I like Domino. She has all the qualities to make her a 'real' Bond girl, in the litterary sense.

How would Fleming describe her? A sensual mare, who would only let you rider her if she was in the right mood, but could be 'such a ride' if you were lucky!

Edit: I will learn to proof read.

Ahh, what a great thread. There is only one Domino, and she was Claudine Auger,my favorite Bond girl and hands-down the best-looking woman in the entire series. Kim Basinger was okay, but does anybody really think of her as Domino after Claudine.

She didn't have the entrance of Ursula Andress or the standoffish tough-girl attitude of Pussy Galore, but Domino is the perfect vulnerable girl trapped by SPECTRE. It adds a romantic feel missing from a lot of the other Bond films, especially after OHMSS. They don't make them like her anymore.

Kim Basinger was the better Domino.

Far better. I really don't think Auger makes much of an impression in THUNDERBALL. She seems to only be onscreen for about 10 minutes all told, and even then she's usually in long shot. Of course, her "So, what sharp little eyes you've got" is memorable, as is the scene in which Bond sucks the poison from her foot, but overall she just comes across as an underused (and, I'm afraid, wooden) actress halfheartedly making the best of an underwritten part.

Yes I do agree with you Loomis, Augers acting left a lot to be desired and I wish that Broccoli had stuck to his guns and insisted that Raquel Welch play the part, although (by her own admission) Welch is not the worlds finest actress either, she would have delivered a better performance!

In comparison Basinger delivered a really powerful performance in Never Say Never Again

I like both portrayals of Domino. Auger is my favorite Connery Bond Girl and Kim Basinger is almost always interesting to watch (My Stepmother is an Alien brings in the "almost"). :)

I found Basinger's performance slightly bland in Never Say Never Again. She really never looked like she had the Bond girl or Bond woman image completely down in the film, certainly a fair and fun character she was, but there are many, many more which I favor more.

I don't think you can blame Basinger for that, as the part of Domino is a somewhat 'help me im stupid' role. Of course, the skill is that she played it less pathetically than, say, Tanya "James don't leave me" Roberts.

I do enjoy NSNA but to compare Dominos...they are very different and it isn't fair; they come from different times where people expected different things from 'the woman' in the films.

While the role is a damsel in distress, Auger gives the role a lot of life, and more style than Basinger did, in my opinion.

I really think she's a rather well crafted Bond girl, and they had a fantastic actress to portray her in Thunderball.

Come on, these films have never cast these roles on acting ability. How in the world can you guys look at this woman and say she left a lot to be desired? She had the right blend of helplessness and beauty. And she's exotic, something Basinger sorely lacks in NSNA, especially when you compare her to Fatima.

Basinger is a bland American in this and has no mystery at all about her. If she does anything well it's due to working with strong pros like Connery and Klaus Maria Brandauer.

Basinger really plays the role well in my opinion. I really believe her character has some depth. This is something that was missing from Augers performance.

Probably not but you really feel that Basingers Domino is a real person, a kept woman! I never got that feeling from Auger.
