I just finished it today. It was awesome! I'm certainly looking forward to the movie, but I just don't see how they can do it justice. As some who read Watchmen back in the day, I can't wait for the film. After seeing stills from the film which look exactly like the book itself. Sure there is a bit of fan boy complaining about the costumes. But I just can't wait to see Jackie Earl Haley as Rorschach - one of the most
ed up 'heroes' ever.
Plus I heard all the Black Freighter stuff will be on the DVD as animation.
Just starting Doctor No.

I'm a die-hard WATCHMEN fanboy... probably the greatest graphic novel ever written (though Alan Moore's FROM HELL might be superior). As some who read Watchmen back in the day, I can't wait for the film.
But the film? Meh. I'm not particularly excited. Firstly, it's from Zack Snyder of 300 and DAWN OF THE DEAD re-make fame... not exactly the man you'd go to for dramatic subtlety, taste, and skillful artistry. And his persistent habit of talking about wanting to make the movie "cool" and such doesn't do much to reinforce my excitement.
Second, the script drafts produced under Snyder's control haven't been promising. The latest draft hasn't leaked, so we don't know the status, but the two drafts done by Alex Tse were woefully mediocre. I'm not holding my breath for the most recent draft, either, given that it was written by the same team that did TRANSFORMERS.

There's no way they can, honestly. To create a cinematic venture that's every bit as good as the graphic novel, they'd have to produce one of the greatest films ever made. I doubt that will be what's served up.I'm certainly looking forward to the movie, but I just don't see how they can do it justice.
There's also the problem that WATCHMEN is uniquely created for the graphic novel medium. It's not a natural transition to any other medium, and I'm not sure Snyder has made the right changes to successfully reimagine it as a great film in its own right.

Quite! Well done so far too. Very objective and 'uncolored', which is what I was looking for. And actually, I have to edit my original post. It's titled:That sounds quite interesting.- History of the Early Church (30 AD through 325)
The Birth of the Church (30-312 AD). By Ivor J. Davidson. There is, or soon will be, a follow up book to that by the same author covering the years 313 through who-knows?

Nice. Glad to hear about the non-bias. I'll roughly guess the next book to either cover 313-5(something), or to the time of the Gregorian monks (900 or so).Quite! Well done so far too. The period detail is fascinating, giving Clive plenty of opportunity to indulge his passion for classic vehicles. Without all the expected fan service elements of the later Pitt novels to get in his way, Cussler shows what a first rate adventure writer he still is. Almost four decades on he's not run out of steam.

Oh baby...About to finish the Blofeld trilogy. Somehow I missed out on those three books. Well worth the wait. I think OHMSS surpasses Goldfinger as my new fav Bond novel!
