Reading a few books at the same time at the moment. Neil Gaiman's Stardust is one of them.

Re-reading, actually, Sean Connery, by Michael Feeney Callan (Stein and Day, 1983).

"Yes, he had read Fleming -- Live and Let Die, some years back. Yes, he thought the concept of a Bond series viable," page 113.

Ah yes, I think I read that one a while back. What do you think so far, Dell?

Valuable insights into Mr. Connery's approach and avoid relationship w/ playing the James Bond character. My initial attraction was after having read Mr. Broccoli's "autobiography," When the Snow Melts (Boxtree, 1998). I'm interested in any recommendations for a second Sean Connery biography you'd care to make.

Also eager to hear what you think of The Pinewood Story after you complete it.

Since my last Post, I'm now reading Ian Fleming: The Man Behind James Bond (Turner Publishing, Inc., 1995), by Andrew Lycett. As w/ my other important studies, I'm interested in getting another dimension on the perspectives shared in The Life of Ian Fleming (McGraw-Hill Book Company, 1966), by John Pearson ... w/ the likely support of Anne Fleming.

Afraid I haven't gotten around to too many of the Connery biographies lately--but I'm always up for a new one. Will definitely let you know about The Pinewood Story.

I did that a few years ago and read all of Jules Verne's output. Mysterious Island is a great read for all ages.

Just finished Northern Lights (The Golden Compass) by Philipp Pullman. Well, it was OK, but a little more on the "children literature" side than I thought initially.

Now, I'm beginning The Moneypenny Diaries: Guardian Angel  Too bad, I didn't find an eBook of this title...

Just finished Ken Follett's World Without End. Excellent book. On reflection, I'd probably have to give Pillars the edge, but this is definitely a worthy sequel.

I'm about to start Robin Moore's The Green Berets.

I'm re-reading Casino Royale. After I finished reading all the Ian Fleming novels, Thrilling Cities and Amis's treatise, I started reading Colonel Sun. It didn't grab me so much, so I closed it without finishing it, and decided to re-read Fleming's works.

Still readinf The Moneypenny diaries: Guardian angel, and it appears to be a very good and enjoyable book! I'll post a review in the appropriate thread some day, but I'd like to recommend it to all CBners!

"The Kite Runner" (Khaled Hosseini) - Fantastically written with some beautiful imagery, yet really demonstrates the sad and turbulent times which have fallen upon Afghanistan. I'm now eager to go and see the movie.
