Bondpurist, I'm posting this one just for you, so you can salivate over the prospects of it. Check this out!

Dalton Will Go 'Looney'
Fri Aug 16, 1:27 AM ET

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Timothy Dalton has signed on to portray Brendan Fraser's father in "Looney Tunes: Back in Action."

The former James Bond star joins Jenna Elfman and Heather Locklear in the cast.

The Warner Bros. project blends live-action and animation in a plot that swings from Hollywood to Las Vegas and into Africa during a search for the Fraser character's missing father and the mythical Blue Diamond.

Dalton was most recently seen in "American Outlaws."

And no, I did not make this up.

I can't wait until Bondpurist shows up and tells what he thinks of this.

This doesn't detract from Dalton's brilliance as 007. I don't see the problem - does this effect Dalton's prtrayal of Bond? No. So it's irrelavent. On a less Bondian note all I can say is that he hasn't had a lot of parts recently and must of needed the money. He does have to earn a living you know.

Yeah, those child support bills can really get you where it hurts. BTW, how come he hasn't had many parts?

I mean film parts. Theatrical parts don't pay as well. He prefers theatre. But he has to some film roles to get some decent money. I expect.

Excuse me Chandler, but are we discussing the same Timothy Dalton?
The guy who starred in The Lion in Winter, Wuthering Heights, Mary Queen of Scots, Flash Gordon, The Doctor and the Devils etc.

I'm already terrified. Doesn't anyone remember that last trainwreck of a looney tunes live action/animation movie?

PaulZ108, would that be Monkeybone also with Brendan Frasier? :) You'd think after that film Frasier would have said no to this one, but then quality scripts like The Mummy 2 don't come along too often. :)

Actually I was referring to Space Jam, but I've heard Monkeybone is equally terrifying. Still, the idea of Dalton running around with Bugs Bunny could make it almost as amusing as the idea of him falling in love with a hairdresser played by Fran Drescher.

Nah, Bugs Bunny is far more appealing than Drescher, he even looks better in a dress :) The scary thing is that Mokeybone actually made Space Jam look like Citizen Kane.

Oh BeePers, BeePers, calm. Calm.

A perfect opportunity for Mr Dalton to "do acting" and bring a Shakesperean (sic) quality to a two-dimensional character.

Can't imagine where he's tried to do that before.

What a stretch.

But fair's fair, the man must eat.

It's not "sad" at all. It's a case of an actor taking work where he finds it. Besides, this is a major project also involving such talents as Joe Dante and Brendan Fraser.

What would be "sad" is if Bond fans demanded that Dalton spent his life doing only the jobs that met with their approval.

It is just good to see Dalton working. I hope he continues to make movies, no matter what genre/character he is playing.

You're right Loomis, at least he's not appearing on some reality TV show to pay the bills...oops, sorry Jean-Claude Van Damme!

You never know, he might end up being the villain in the next Van Damme movie, just to have a job.

If so, he'd be following in the footsteps of Moore, who played the bad guy in Van Damme's THE QUEST (1996).

Lest we forget those gems Connery starred in during the 70's like "Meteor" & "Zardoz." "Highlander" may have been a true career boost for Sean.

And do we want to remember what flicks PB was starring in prior to GE? Even he admits he did them to pay the rent.

Look, if Michael Caine can do "Jaws: The Revenge" after winning an Oscar...

I think Bing's gotta thing for Tim! LOL

Not only that, he skipped the Oscar ceremony (where he won) to film "Jaws: The Revenge"!

Another one of those "mix live action with cartoons" movies, much akin to Space Jam or the much-superior Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Sorry for veering off-topic on that, but it seems that in this film, Dalton plays the assistant, or something.

I still think ol' Tim's thinking "Oh WHY did I have to leave James Bond for THIS?!"
