Cheers Zencat.

And you have a lot to answer for: I shall be purchasing my first 900 Turbo this weekend!

I'll be posting an image of my own "silver beast" soon, as I've just received my Bond-themed personalised licence plates from Jakarta. Just need to find a suitable Bali location. :)

Really?

Excellent!

I sort of watch them go by now with look of longing... Blasted BWM. :)

I know...we badly need a "MORE" button at the end of our main page so members can access stories that have recently aged off more easily. I hope we can do that soon.

I agree....whats with the staff just standing around LOL....I know you guys work hard but that is an excellent suggestion...Chop Chop :)

I would re-arrange it so that the feature articles are in one place; not hidden away in sub-catagories of the films.

Not a bad suggestion...but sometimes even I'm not clear on what's a feature and what's news. My current IFP article for instance. Or editorials. After a while, it just looks like we have two lists of stories running. I like the clarity of a single list and a single "top" story. But we've been so active lately, a story only lasts 3 weeks or so and then vanishes into our sub categories (do a little digging -- there are some gems hidden in there). A "more" button would be my only suggestion for the main page (and I think they're working on it). I've also proposed the idea of bringing back some old stories and relisting them. A "CBn Classic" feature of sorts.

Hey, marktmurphy. When you get your 900, post a pic here for all of us to see. What year is it?

Just had another drive and I'm pretty sure I'll be taking it. It's a 1986 turbo 8- the facelifted model, but still the classic shape. It doesn't look like I'll be able to get my hands on it until next weekend though :).
Good bargain, though, at $900.

$900? Nice. If I could find a 900 for less than a grand (that still ran), I would buy it in an eyeblink. I would get an 81 to 83 silver one. As close to "the Silver Beast" as I could get.

Are you a car collector?

Not really. I just know what I like. This will bring the total number of cars on our drive back up to six, though (Jag XJRS, Jeep, Cobra, Austin Mini, Renault) which isn't exactly ideal.

Well, yes. They do take up a rather large proportion of the road too. The Jag is for sale though, and the mini may follow soon too, so if you fancy some Brit action...

Proper minis are legislated against in the US I believe (although I presume a private owner can drive one- they just weren't for sale over there).

Thar she blows...an 86 Turbo 8. Yes I know, it's a saloon model, but it's still cool!

So you were driving around in a brand new Saab Turbo when you were 19? Blimey- I wasn't even driving my less-than-one-litre mini at that age, never mind a two litre turbo!

Erm...only if you live in Surrey!
It really is fantastically nice- I got a Saab specıalıst to give it a service and a once over and he reckons there's nothing wrong with it! Although it has got nasty stone chips in the windscreen and I feel replacing it is going to cost....
I seriously can't believe this car is only worth

So Zen's parents bought him a brand new, top of the range sportscar? He must have done really well in his exams..

Hang on, he was 19 in 83; you're 22 or so now- doesn't that make you only just over half his age? No wonder he never has a go at OldRoger's dubious young-womanising!

LOL. Yep. I was spoiled then (a teenager with a brand new Saab 900 Turbo) and I'm spoiled now (a 39-year-old with a hottie 22-year-old Bond Girl girlfreind).

Life is goooooood. :)

Glad you're enjoying your Saab so much, mtm. If I had a place to keep it, I would go out and buy a used one myself. It was the best car I ever owned. I still sometimes have dreams about it. I had it from '83 to '90 -- the longest I've ever owned one car.

Ya when he was 19 y/o I was 1 y/o... :) (although when I first met the ZenCat when I was 21 I thought he was 32, not 38)

As far as cars go, and spoiled brats... I was not one... I bought my 1st car with my own money for $5,000, and it certainly wasn't new and it certainly wasn't anything Bond Girlish. I still have my 1994 Toyota. :) Not a Bond Girl car. I need a US Mini! :)

I'm assuming it was just part of the press kit for License Renewed. This pic appeared in Benson's Bedside Companion. I got this pic along with two others; one of Gardner and the Saab (that I've never seen before) and one of the real Saab blasting it's teargas with a crowd standinging around watching.
