Posted Image CLICK HERE: to hear Athena & John eeeking about the STORM :)
^---LISTEN!!!

Eeeep! My goodness... the rain outside is like, well if insanity was a tangible thing. It's CRAZY and LOUD and leaking through my door o_0 ...ZENCAT left the apt at 7:30 to get us some Thai food and he's not returned yet. He called, said the streets were flooded; he had to get in his car by crawling through the passenger size door. He said it looks like the mailboxes and everything are floating in water. I'm scared to even look outside. I mean, open the door and there's a waterfall that comes down right into my apartment! And there's this car just broken down in the middle of my street and no one can get by! John sqeeeezed by... hee hee. Ankle deep water! You don't understand it's psycho!

Severe Weather Alert from the National Weather Service

FLOOD STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LOS ANGELES/OXNARD CA 652 PM PST WED FEB 25 2004

FLOOD ADVISORY HAS BEEN ISSUED UNTIL MIDNIGHT FOR LOS ANGELES COUNTY

AT 645 PM... NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LARGE AREA OF MODERATE RAIN COVERING MOST OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY... AND EXTENDING WESTWARD ACROSS VENTURA COUNTY AND OFFSHORE TO BEYOND THE CHANNEL ISLANDS. THE RAIN AREA WAS MOVING TO THE EAST NORTHEAST AT 20 MPH.

RAINFALL RATES OF ONE QUARTER TO ONE HALF INCH PER HOUR CAN BE EXPECTED ACROSS MUCH OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY THROUGH MIDNIGHT... WITH LOCALIZED HEAVIER RATES ALONG THE SOUTH FACING SLOPES OF THE FOOTHILLS AND MOUNTAINS. THIS WILL CAUSE WIDESPREAD MINOR FLOODING OF STREETS... FREEWAYS AND OTHER LOW LYING AREAS. DRIVERS SHOULD SLOW DOWN WHILE TRAVELING THIS EVENING... AND REMAIN AWARE OF RAPIDLY CHANGING ROAD CONDITIONS.

LOCATIONS IN AND NEAR THE BURN AREAS WILL BE PARTICULARLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO FLOODING ALONG WITH POSSIBLE MUD AND DEBRIS FLOWS. RESIDENTS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD REMAIN ALERT... AND BE PREPARED TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS ISSUED BY LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS.

AN ADVISORY MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING... BUT IS NOT IMMEDIATELY LIFE-THREATENING. IT IS GENERALLY IN THE FORM OF STREET FLOODING OR LOW LYING AREAS SUCH AS FIELDS OR UNDERPASSES. RESIDENTS MUST STILL USE GOOD JUDGMENT AND AVOID FLOODED AREAS...

You guys...and Bryce and Genrewriter, and Ry, and Matt 004 please be careful.

I appear to be left alone in CBn... I hope everyone hasn't abandoned the sinking ship.

More importantly, what mischief can I get up to. Better not.

Eep! Hope things dry out, Athena :)

Well, that is one of you checking in.

I checked all the cable news stations...none of them are picking up on the story.

Have any of your local stations gone to continious coverage of this?

I hope everything is alright! At least you're not on fire like last fall! Those fires were the result of a shortage of rain so the rain is good but of course it can be destructive like the '93 rains. Anyway, there's always a silver lining somewhere! :)

Ah you yanks, always complaining and panicking at the first sign of rain :) :) Here was have floods up to 3 and four meters! Causing millions of dollars of damage, tearing up the road and demolishing houses.

In all seriousness though, be safe and watch out. Although it doesn't look too bad and I know you'll both come out fine :)

Hope all is well for you folks on the west Coast.

I guess the songs are not to be believed, I thought it never rained in Southern California. :-)

The rain wasn't scary. It's actually FUN. But rain in Cali to that extent doesn't happen every day. So when it does, it's all eXciting :)

The whole patch of rug in front of my front door is soaked like no-bodies business! This morning ZenCat used 3 towels up trying to soak up the water... it's still soaked. The space heater is pointed at it, it should dry out.

So after ZenCat moved our cars last night to better parking spots (I went outside and MAN my whole street WAS a river! :) )... I took some pics of ZenCat in the rain. Then we hurried back inside my place and curled up on the bed (no fireplace :)) and ate some Thai food while watching "Doctor WHO: The City of Death". When we tried to go to sleep the rain was soooo loud! It was hitting the a/c box... noisy. Rain storms are always fun when you have someone to pounce around with (there was a minor rain storm on Halloween Night when John and I were moving a piece of my furniture, a chest, from my mom's place to mine and it felt like we were moving a dead body.. hee hee).

Every year... fires and rain, fires and rain... there's So Cali for ya! :)

Glad to hear you guys didn't have to swim from room to room last night. :) It seems like evertime it rains in So-Cal, the media acts as though it's the next Great Flood. One of the entertaining things about being out here. :)
