"Certificate: 15
Starring: Richard Burton, Roger Moore, Richard Harris, Hardy Kruger
Their home is the battlefield. Their calling is war. Their only loyalty is to each other. They are the wild Geese, fifty crack mercenary paratroops commanded Faulkner (Richard Burton). Their mission: to land in a remote and hostile corner of Africa, free the one man who can change a nation's destiny, seize the airport and make their escape.. But while the Wild Geese are fighting and dying in the African sun, sinister forces in the corridors of power are working to seal their fate."

I remember seeing a little "making of" segment on TV at the time in which Richard Harris talked about how Roger kept fluffing one particular line ("well, goose yourself in here" I think was the line), and how Harris considered Roger to be only 003-and-a-half on that day.

Actually, I think Roger sort of did this as a joke. He's playing something he wouldn't normally play, and he knows that it's funny. I think he's only doing it for his own amusement and for the amusement of others. I honestly hope that he should say some sort of Bond girl (in this case, Bond guy) name quip in the film at some point.Originally posted by angelsmiles007
I don't know about you guys, but I find this particulary disturbing. I can't see Roger Moore playing a gay guy. He will always and forever be Bond in my mind. I don't know if I will be able to watch a movie where he isn't playing Bond. I think it's cool that he is doing movies again and exploring his options, but why couldn't he have chosen something else? But i guess I should hold back my opinions until I actually see the movie and then give my take on it.

........"Boat Trip" is the kind of movie tailor-made for bilking unsuspecting foreign nationals out of their investment money. You have to feel for the poor fools who ripped the little paper tab from the bottom of the "become a Hollywood mogul!" sign and proceeded to turn over a significant chunk of the retirement fund to have their names listed as "associate producers" of this floating fiasco. There's little hope of legal recourse, however, because technically, a movie got made, right? And technically, it even had an Oscar winner in it, right?
No, not Marisa Tomei, not Mira Sorvino, but Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr., whose subsequent career path should inspire the Academy's Best Supporting Actor nominees to hide under their seats during this year's awards ceremony / war protest. Cuba plays the nostalgically named Jerry, who barfs on his girlfriend (Vivica A. Fox) while proposing to her, then, once dumped, escapes with fellow loser Nick (Horatio Sanz) to get some R&R on a singles cruise. However, after angering their travel agent, they're booked on a fag cruise. But here's the thing: THEY'RE NOT GAY! Can you imagine the hijinks that follow?
.............There were actual lines in this movie that caused people across the audience to turn to each other and say "What?" in audible unison. Cuba and Horatio compensate for a wasteland of a screenplay by overplaying every pathetic half-joke as though it were the last glass of water in a vast desert of unfunny. To make matters worse, the film's humor veers between romantic comedy (as Jerry pursues the ship's female dance instructor, played by Roselyn Sanchez) and "Airplane"-style absurdity (such as with the sudden appearance of the Swedish suntanning team), but can't commit to either genre. The result is lots of humor punchlined by someone spitting out his drink as an expression of surprise.
Also appearing in this film is Roger Moore, whose role as a lecherous old gay guy is designed to make the audience screech when James Bond suggestively licks a breakfast sausage. Given his dearth of recent roles, Roger probably signed up just for the free breakfast, but the producers got suspicious when he kept demanding take after delicious take.
And oh, those wacky gays. You know what I learned about gays? They're outrageous, every one. They have gay sex constantly, without discretion. They all love Bette Midler and showtunes and sing "I Will Survive" until they're blue in the face. They live to wear giant feathered costumes and strut around stage in drag. They wear heavy makeup and screech a lot, even when performing surprisingly non-gay day jobs such as firemen and policemen. Most importantly, however, beneath the waxed chest of every gay male beats a heart of gold, because all gays are at their core sensitive and vulnerable and wounded. And thanks to Hollywood's continued sensitivity, I can now spot a gay from a mile away....

Forewarning: This film is pretty sleazy. It has some bits that would probably make even the gross out directors, the Farelly Bros. puke. Its about two friends who desire more women in their lives so they arrange to board a cruise ship and pick up the ladies. But, as it turns out, through a set of very contrived circumstances they mistakenly board an all gay cruise instead!!!
As you can imagine, hillarity ensues shortly thereafter.
Roger plays a mature wealthy english gay gentleman named "Lloyd Flaversham" who tries to put the moves on and seduce Horatio's character all throughout the entireity of the movie.
Say what you will about the film, it sure ain't a classic, but *EVERY* scene Roger is in is intant gold. What can I say? The man still has it!
Roger's strong suit has always been comedy, and this proves it! Maybe thats where he should focus his interests from now on. Making only comedy films ala Leslie Nielsen- whom also used to do largely only serious films and now ONLY appears in spoofs or comedies. Its highly unlikely the era of Roger the Comedian will ever come to pass at this late stage in his life, however one can dream. I mean how would he have time to do any movies in between visting all those third world countries for Unicef and such. God bless him.
Anyways, I won't spoil the movie for you, but I am sure glad I finally did rent it. I was hesitant at first due to it's subject matter (never really liked "gay comedies". Frankly, The Birdcage sucked and so did Kiss me Guido).
But this movie (especially Roger's scenes) had me in absolute hysterics.
Damn, Roger is funny! He really sends up his ladies man Bond image in a way, too. Wait until you see the scene where he uses the F-word real loud. Haha what a badass.
Too funny. man, he's got GREAT comic timing.
Some people say Roger totally embarasses himself in this movie, but i disagree. Actors ONLY make fools of themselves in comedies when they are not funny whatsoever. Roger is highly amusing in this film and is very funny. As evident in all of his Bond films, as well.
Sadly, this film was hated by the critics and no one saw it either. But, don't let that deter you from renting this cinematic masterpiece!
You guys get my drift yet? You see where I am going with this post yet?
This movie is funny!
*IF YOU LOVE ROGER GO GET IT*
RUN, DON'T WALK!
RENT IT! TODAY!

Glad to hear you are renting the movie. Now remember, its not for all tastes and its certainly no classic. Some of the jokes *do* suck.
But is the flick worth renting just for Roger's scenes alone? You bet.
And don't worry about him appearing in only a cameo or two. He has a good 5 or 6 scenes right up until the end of the movie. And damn is he funny in every one.
If you don't laugh during his portrayal of wealthy elderly horny homosexual, Lloyd Flaversham, then I sincerly apologise in advance.
But if you're a Roger Fan, I have absolutely no doubt you will love it.

I know he doesn't star in it.I've never seen it but what I know of it, Roger isn't the star but a supporting player.
