It's pretty cool, nice set up. I was curious if we have lost our buddy list feature. I don't see it in my controls.

It's still there in your Controls. Under Messenger -> PM Buddies/Block List

Yeah I see that you can add people to your list and address book there, but where is the actual buddy list that shows when buddies are online? I added people, but never see them on. There's no place for the list!

Yes I use AOL as my internet browser and it is a lot more difficult to view the forums than it used to be.

Alas, another question to put forward: Are the movie and book tags in full operation yet? ([ f ][ /f ] & [ @ ] [ /@ ]) The reason I ask is because when I tried to use them the link ended with a "/". Is this supposed to happen or just a technical error?

Example: On Her Majesty’s Secret Service Casino Royale

EDIT: Hmm, now it appears to be working. :)

Grrrrr! It's become all happy and bubbly like MSN Messenger! I preferred the cold, hard facade of CBn.

Just a note on the way quotes are "quoted"...
I'm not sure how to explain exactly but when reading through the forums now it seems difficult to decipher between people's new posts and the quotes.

I'm having the same problem. They're not as neat. It's something we'll try and address. I also don't like the way you can quote quotes, if that makes sense.

Well at least you can edit the quote of the quote of the quote, etc in the second field on the "Replying to...." page.

All this 'new' CBN got me thinking about the member number and what it means.

CBN has 2469 members currently. Out of that, over 40% have never posted, AT ALL, and over 70% (including the 0 posters) have less than 10 posts.

What does this all mean? Loads of wasted space lol.

It's only in the last few member pages that the post counts get to the level that shows the person is commited to being an active member, the first 45 pages (out of 50, well 49 and a half (this is with 50 members per page sorted from post count)) have 100 or less posts, and the final 4 and a bit have respectable ones.
Sure you have to have a little leeway for people who just joined, but, looking at the dates, most of the people have never posted and never will.

Why care?
Some of the wasted space have really good names, names people might have wanted when they joined but couldn't all because some [-person-] registered and then didn't post.

I encourage some kind of pruning to be put into action to free up some cool posting alias/handles/whatever and, of course, server space.

Isn't this all interesting? "no we like our delusions of a massive member count thankyou snakeeyes" Ahh well, I tried :)

Splendid idea, SnakeEyes. I made a thread about deleting the people who have never posted a long time ago, but the Staff didn't agree with me. It is a waste of space and it's a waste of some good screen names.

Unfortunately I am with you on this. I was rather amused to play around with this new style to CBN but now the novelty has worn off I am getting nostalgic for the old CBN that I had learned to appreciate and love.

It also seems that now rather than people being 00 agents and secret agents that we have instead been shanghai'd into service in the Royal Navy. How this has happened is a complete mystery to me. :)

Yes, the ranking change was a bit of a shock, but I don't really mind it. What I'd like to know was if there was this big of a change at the beginning of 2003?

Ah, so there weren't any new changes to the forums, or they weren't as drastic as they are now?

This is the most dramatic change I have seen to CBN since I joined. I probably would like it a lot better if my browser did not have so many problems with it.

Yes, Righty told me he is having quite a bit of trouble too. It's weird because I also use AOL and I'm not having problems, I really don't understand the problems though.

I'm still adjusting myself to the new changes too, some of which I don't like much. But we all need to learn not to sweat the small stuff. It's still CBn with the same forums, with the same people. We'll all get used to the changes eventually.

Another question: Why was the "confused" smiley deleted?

Yes, my thoughts too Bond111. I also miss the  smiley. I used it quite often and I can't see reason for the deletion of them. :) :)

The caption contests are a little difficult now without being able to attach pics too.

Oh... is the [IMG] turned on for all forums now? At lease we'll have that.

I know that the forums don't quite fit the reduced window for mutiple viewing, so I guess Darren is refering to the forums being a little too big for 800x600 resolution size of monitors and therefore require horizontal scrolling and extra vertical scrolling? I could be wrong in what Darren is getting at.

My monitor rez is 1024x768 and the forums do look like they fill the screen a little more than the old boards.

Well Blofeld's Cat seems to have put his finger on what I was talking about in his post -- except that my monitor at home is a high resolution 22" monitor so it must be some issue between AOL and the new CBN.

Here at work I use Internet Explorer as my internet browser and I do not experience the same problem. I love navigating the new site now so maybe I will use Internet Explorer at home whenever I want to surf CBN??!! :)
